I use mine in conjunction with an automatic plant watering system and have drilled a small hole in the lid to accommodate a pipe,so not really sure,but it is a very good tight fit.

Hi will this bucket hold 60 tennis balls ?

It’s not an issue of simple mathematics as the other poster claims. This isn’t a cylinder. The top opening and the base have different radii. It’s an inverted truncated cone. The maths are different and even then, reducing the tennis ball to a cubed object ignores the inherent spherical nature of the tennis ball and the empty spaces within the container where no tennis ball may fit. Tennis balls have a broad specification in diameter and a simple ‘average’ doesn’t help if your tennis balls are larger than average. The dimensions provide by the seller are external dimensions which calculate to around 28 litres. You might try sketching a scale drawing of the bucket using the smaller diameter (28cm) and divide it by 6.86cm, the diameter of a large tennis ball. I did a quick sketch in Photoshop using 1:1 scaled drawings. One for the diameter and one for the height. At the bottom, I was able to fit 11 tennis balls comfortably. A 12th tennis ball might fit if compressed slightly. Let’s go with 11. I was able to comfortably accommodate five layers for 55 tennis balls. However, the tennis balls will settle a little in the dips and I would guess that it could hold 60 tennis balls comfortably. There was a gap of over 5cm at the top. Given that the top of the bucket is wider than the bottom, it can accommodate 14 tennis balls. 14 tennis balls are three more than 11, so the 55 calculation becomes 58. At some point, a layer will contain 13 tennis balls which is two more than 11. 58 becomes 60. And one of the layers will be holding 12 tennis balls for at least 61 tennis balls. Fermenting is one of the uses they state in the description so I would assume it's fine for room temperature food or liquids.

Can this hold 20 KG of rice (or bird seeds)?

yes, but only just. A 25 litre bucket will hold 24.77 kg of seed.
