Little Giant Flip N Lite 5-ft Aluminum Stepladder, 15273-001

This ladder is an excellent step ladder from Little Giant. I have been the proud owner of a monster Type 1A Model 26 for the better part of at least 10 years and have used it for everything. Everything including jobs that don't require anything more that the minimum size of 6' in height. Anything less than that & I just went with a footstool or a chair or my tippy-toes... needless to say, that isn't the safest or most efficient way to get the work done. I was getting ready to buy a Little Giant "Little Jumbo" 3 foot step ladder => Little Giant 10310B Safety Stepladder with Bar and Tray, 3-Step but, I wasn't buying immediately and for some reason, & then I found this less expensive solution. I know the quality of Little Giant ladders from being a long time owner and was not about to hesitate buying the "Flip'n Lite" version of their step ladder. First of all, this ladder is lighter weight PLUS it is rated to hold the same weight of it's larger sibling which means I don't have to think twice when interchanging the two... in other words, it's a strong ladder despite it's light weight. It is almost a full 10 pounds lighter than the "Little Jumbo" and the extra features on the "Little Jumbo" weren't as attractive as the lighter weight. So, I decided to buy this ladder once Amazon had it in stock. I was ready to buy and sure enough... they had a waiting period for delivery and that means I could put it off again and stick with my other methods of getting the job done until they got more stock in. Once it showed up as available, I made the purchase immediately. The ladder showed up in the manufacturer's packaging and it too was impressive. The box was sturdy and secure... it even came with a set of 8 perforated handles built into the box to make the delivery less cumbersome because it does happen to be a fairly large and awkward box otherwise. Inside the box was the "Flip'n Lite" Step Ladder encased inside a thick clear plastic shrink wrap with display advertisements and instructions included. It was packaged to be delivered in showroom shape, perfect! Once I opened the box and had some time to use the ladder, it has been smooth sailing. I have been able to move more quickly from job to job because of the lighter weight and smaller dimensions and most importantly, I know I always have my feet on solid footing. This makes any work I'm doing much more rewarding. The mechanism to open and close the "Flip'n Lite" is fairly straightforward. It is not a ladder I can toss around like my Model 26, but for the work I will be using it for, there should be no need for that. I can really appreciate the effortless feel of using this step ladder over the Model 26. That will make my life much more efficient as I won't be groaning about breaking out the Model 26. One nice thing I found about owning this second Little Giant ladder is that I now really appreciate this one even more so than the Model 26, just because I had no idea how the Model 26 was going to hold up over the years. Since I have tons of experience under my belt with the Model 26, I know that just from using the "Flip'n Lite" for less than 2 full days... it is another winner! Well worth the investment. If you need a decent step ladder, I highly recommend the "Flip'n Lite" from Little Giant and of course Amazon proves once again why they are the World's Biggest & Best online retailer. "(^^)"

I typically give only four stars for a top review, reserving the fifth star for those things that really impress me as well above my expectations. This lil ladder gets five stars. My wife and I really like this thing. I was surprised by how inexpensive this was. It's from a highly-rated company though, so we decided to get it. The design, three steps plus a nice high support(with a deep tray), was what I felt would be best, as opposed to a full ladder, steps to the top. She and I both like this format better, we used a 'regular' ladder when we painted the bedroom, and this one's a much better tool. We just finished painting the front room, and it's easier for us old folks to lean on a ladder made like this. It's SOLID. There's not even a little wobble. I weigh ~270lb., so wanted to be sure our ladder was strong and solidly built. Neither of us is as steady as we used to be, so we really appreciate how steady this thing is. It's light, I was really surprised by that. There's a handle on the back of the(big!) third/top step, and when you lift that handle, the ladder folds up smoothly, completely and easily. I've used ladders, big and small, for years, for a lot of reasons and jobs, from painting to firefighting. This is, IMNSHO, the lightest, easiest to handle and use, best designed and made ladder I've used. All that and what I think is a very reasonable price. We're impressed. I think you'll be impressed too. Neither the ol' lady or I work for or are compensated by Amazon or the maker of this ladder. I do these reviews because I appreciate (most of)the reviews here from other folks, and I want to help the next guy too. I'd love to get free stuff to review like some folks, but we buy ours, and I'll tell it like I see it, good/bad/other. YMMV, IANAL, IMNSHO this is a damn fine tool, a great ladder for a great price. What's not to love? ;)

How often does anyone find the right ladder, or any product, that is everything the manufacturer claims it is as well as everything you want it to be? In my experience, hardly ever. Well, stop the press, call off the dogs, and prepare to be pleasantly surprised. IMHO the Flip-N-Lite 5-foot ladder from Little Giant is the exception to all those other products that may come close, but never quite measure up to the manufacturers' hype or the customers' expectations. When the Flip-N-Lite ladder arrived, my wife lost track of how many times she heard me use the word, WOW! This is the ladder I have been hoping to find for a long time. However, it was only a month earlier when I purchased the Polder Ultra light Aluminum 3-Step Ladder thinking it was the ladder that would best meet my needs. I had been looking for a light weight, easy to use & store ladder for use mainly inside the house for all those times when there is a need to reach an upper closet/cabinet shelf or reset a clock high on the wall or do a little wall/ceiling painting. The Polder Ultra light ladder seemed to fit my needs. While it is a very nice ladder that I intend to keep, I began to wish it could do more, such as get me a little higher up and offer a slightly more secure feeling when there. After doing more research on Amazon & other sites, it began looking like maybe the 5-Foot Flip-N-Lite from Little Giant would give me what I was looking for, and boy did it ever! Here is what I like about it. (1) The aluminum frame is smooth and well finished. There is NOT a rough edge or jagged part on this ladder that could catch your hand or inflict an injury, making it a pleasure to handle. (2) The ladder is rock-solid secure, boasting a Type IA, 300 lbs. load limit. When you are on the top step (a textured platform measuring approximately 12" deep x 13" wide) you are 2'-9" above the floor, and you feel very safe. Adding to your sense of security is the fact that the sides of this ladder extend another 25" above the top step. This allows you to "lean in" against the top bar, thus giving you great stability while freeing up both hands for the job. (3) The orange colored top bar of the ladder also happens to be a convenient 3" W x 12" L x 1" D tray for holding small tools, brushes, or rags. (4) When opening the ladder the top step latches onto a bar across the back of the ladder with a loud CLICK that lets you know the ladder is fully & securely opened & locked. Pull the orange handle to release the step when ready to close the ladder. (5) At just 10.5 lbs. the ladder is easy to carry around with one hand. (6) At its folded height of 63" it easily fits into the back of my Toyota RAV4 when the passenger seat is collapsed or easily stores away under a bed frame or in a clothes closet. In summary, this ladder is well designed & well made. Its size, weight, durability, and handling features make it just the right ladder for all kinds of chores both inside and outside the house. Yes it is made in China, but is "designed and engineered in the USA," says Little Giant. Yes I would recommend it. Yes I would buy another if anything happens to mine. Yes this is a great product at an affordable price. The only thing left to say is, WOW!

I love this ladder - it is my go to for reaching things and doing household projects. So light and convenient, yet sturdy!

I have owned a Little Giant ladder folding/extending convertible ladder system since when they ran an infomercial maybe 15 years ago or so and was always completely satisfied. This was getting a little heavy to lug around constantly for around the house. The 2 step granny seat / step stool we had was just not cutting it for a lot of things, and I found myself more frequently standing on the padded flip down seat to reach things. I volunteer with a local ambulance, and after being called to treat someone that seriously injured themselves doing exactly that on a similar seat/stool, I decided to start looking around for a small ladder to fill this gap. I found several in the same general price point as this Little Giant the same height reach, so I went with the name I trust. Not disappointed. This ladder is very light. I can carry it with one arm, and the built in carry handle makes it convenient and comfortable to do so. It opens smoothly with the platform handle. I absolutely love the platform and side rails. It’s inherent design intentionally prevents you from over stepping the ladder’s reach height. This top rung IS a step! It says up to 300 pounds support, so it is strong as it is light. The 3 step version is perfect height for me. I am 5’8” and this puts my head right at the 8.5 foot ceiling while on the platform.

My apartment has 9-foot ceilings. I'm a 66-year-old female, 5'6", with terrible balance. I also love being independent. I live alone, and I really hate having to bother friends or family members to come over to take care of some mundane tasks that simply require access to high places, not to mention I hate not being able to do certain things RIGHT NOW simply because I can't reach whatever. I had high hopes that this ladder would remedy that annoying problem and restore my sense of independence when it comes to height-related tasks. Wanting to stay within a budget and not buy more ladder than I needed, I painstakingly attempted to analyze which of the available heights would suit me best. I carefully read through the Q&A's and reviews to get all the details on measurements and heights of the rungs and platforms. I tried to simulate the various heights by jerry-rigging things in my apartment, to see which ladder would be a Goldilocks-perfect fit. From what I could tell, it APPEARED that the 5-foot ladder would be just right - giving me exactly the height I needed for the highest possible task - changing lightbulbs - without being higher than I needed. Ironically, I could easily put in a maintenance call for a routine changing of the bulbs. But I am progressively changing every single bulb in my apartment to smart bulbs, as my budget allows. And since that is frivolous as opposed to a routine burned-out bulb, I didn't want to bother the maintenance staff with that. Additionally, wi-fi/smart bulbs can be a PITA to deal with - sometimes requiring multiple uninstall/reinstall attempts to get them to behave. No way would I feel comfortable putting in a maintenance ticket every time I needed to get up there and troubleshoot one of the 11 ceiling bulbs! After getting the ladder, I was really excited at how easy now is when I want to change artwork that is high on the wall, clean the top of my kitchen cabinets, get to the many plants atop my tall armoire, change the battery in my wall clock, etc. Easy-peasy with my new ladder! So that was all good. But then came the light bulbs. I knew that in order to benefit from the maximum height of the ladder, I'd have to stand on the platform. I've never done that before, and sometimes you don't know what you can or can't do until you attempt to do it. So imagine my devastating disappointment to discover that on the second run of the ladder, I could just touch the screw on the globe lights. If I could reach up there with both hands, I could manage just fine, but reaching up without holding on to anything (from the second rung) made me shaky. The only way to get a COMFORTABLE reach would be to stand on the platform. But guess what? When I went to put one foot up to stand on the platform, I realized I would not be able to balance myself and just had a gut instinct that I would surely fall. It was NOT going to happen. (It doesn't help that I also have vertigo.) Once my granddaughter removed the globe shade, I was able to reach the light bulbs, but I was not able to replace the globe; she had to do it. Then came the five kitchen flood lights. As with the globe shade, I could barely touch the flood lights, and the only way I was going to be able to unscrew them was to use both hands or stand on the platform. No to both. So sadly, it turns out this 5-foot ladder is just a mere inch or two short to be of use to me in the way I intended. I share this long and boring storing for the benefit of others living alone who might run into the same scenario. You can't necessarily go by the measurements alone to determine the height that's right for you. For my purposes, I should have gotten the 6-foot version, even though it APPEARED (on paper calculations) that that would be overkill for me, based on my assumption that I would be able to stand on the platform to reach maximum height. If you're 5'6" or shorter, and do not have a very stable and strong sense of balance, and your ceilings are 8'6" or greater, and you anticipate a need to change light bulbs or paint the ceiling, I suggest going with the 6-foot version, even if that may seem more than you need. Another thing the 6-footer would allow me to do, which I can't do with this 5-footer, is clean around the rim of my canned light fixtures in the kitchen. There is one fixture in my kitchen that is in the direct path of the steam from my Instant Pot, and although I usually put it under the stove vent to release the steam, occasionally I do leave it on the bar counter during a release. After a few too many times doing that, the light fixture nearest to that spot is slightly discolored. If my ladder were just a foot higher, I could easily clean that spot. But since it's too short to even change the light bulb, there's no hope of reaching it to clean it. Once again, I'll have to wait for a family member to help me with that task. So much for my bright idea that a ladder would give me some of my independence back! Other than that, it's a really awesome ladder. Not only is it sturdy, but as others have said, it is compact enough to be easily maneuvered into tight places, and it also folds up nicely for closet or under-bed storage. I would absolutely recommend it to others. I just wish I'd opted for the higher version. Don't make my mistake!

I needed a ladder to be able to reach trailer marker lights and clean the solar panel. A step stool is too short (I'm 5-8) and a typical step ladder is too big/heavy for trailer storage and carrying around. This ladder is the perfect 'in between' ladder! It really is incredibly light as a feather while remaining tall enough and sturdy to stand on. Since I will be using this outdoors, and mostly on grass or dirt, I may 3D print some wider feet but I didn't sink in the first time I used it while the ground was wet so it may be good enough as-is. My only word of caution is that there is some channel aluminum on both sides of the top platform which has been cut with a saw during manufacturing but not deburred properly. Be sure to grab a flat metal file and shave down / round off all exposed edges as soon as you can. Since its aluminum don't be too aggressive with the file or you could easily take off more material than you want! I was also considering the Little Giant "safety step" ladder which is a bit more compact and has a larger top step but I decided against it due to higher cost, only a couple inches shorter to store, but also double the weight. I am now convinced I made the best decision just based on the weight alone.

Perfect ladder for every homeowner or renter. Lightweight and sturdy. Works great. I got both my sons one.
