## Description

The Golden Rod Dehumidifier works by slightly increasing the air temperature inside the gun safe or other enclosure. This allows the warm air to circulate throughout the safe on a continual basis, thus eliminating humidity, mildew, and condensation. All of which are dangerous to your expensive firearm collection. Made in the USA.

Review: This really works to drop humidity! Highly recommended - The rod does get hot to the touch, but not so hot that it will affect anything in your safe. I have mine placed horizontally in front of the door. The temp inside has risen between 8-10 degrees, and humidity has dropped from 65% to 47%. I use this in addition to a pair of Eva-Dry Wireless Mini Dehumidifiers and a Govee Bluetooth Hygrometer Thermometer to make sure things stay copacetic inside the safe.

**Q: What's the functional difference between this and the cheaper black version?**
A: The main characteristic difference that I've been able to figure out (besides the color***) is that the GoldenRod units are higher wattage heaters.  

Take a look at the chart I made below, where I've compiled heating wattage information for different length rods from Lockdown, and also another manufacturer, SnapSafe, all available on Amazon.  Hope this helps!  :^)

*** The color and reflectivity of the surface makes a small amount of difference for emittance (i.e. - heat radiating efficiency) - matte, less reflective black objects radiate somewhat better than more reflective gold).

**Q: What does it do with the humidity it takes out of the air?**
A: The Heat keeps humidity from building up by stabilizing the temp inside the safe. So there is no humidity taken out of the air, it just prevents it. Works well.

**Q: Does anyone know the surface temperature**
A: I used a temperature “gun” with a red laser dot:  116 degrees Fahrenheit pointed directly on the gold tube.  Internal safe temperature is 75.  Just installed the 18” model yesterday, September 26, 2020.

**Q: What size for 24cu feet safe?**
A: I have the 18" model in a nearly 12 cubic feet gun safe (24 long gun capacity) and it has done fine thus.
