Is this lead-free & safe material?

Yes. It is lead-free and safe for food. Thank you.

Can you froth milk in it?

I microwaved maple syrup for no more than 6 seconds but I am not sure about milk since you might have to heat it longer to get a decent froth? Hope this helps.

Reviews mention thinness of glass, is this applicable to the square bottom one too?

Technically I don't know. The whole container is quite thin, but the bottom 'might' be a tad thicker than the rest of it.

Can you take this from refrigerator to micro wave oven?

It is extremely thin glass, so I’m quite sure the answer would be no. But I do love it, it just would have been better if the glass was a little thicker.
