Q: I have just discovered that leatherjackets are responsible for my poor lawn. Will this work in April?

Nematodes will control leatherjackets provided the conditions are right. The soil needs to be warm and wet and the leatherjackets need to be at the right stage of their life cycle. The best time of the year to treat is when the young are first emerging in the autumn. However the nematodes can also be used in the spring once the soil has warmed up. A good rule of thumb is to treat as soon as you have grass growing, but don't leave it so late that the leatherjackets have started to pupate ready to fly off and breed. April can be just about right.

Q: My lawn has a mix of eggs, flies and leatherjackets. Will product work if applied now(start of August)?

September/October is better, and this does the job well. Don't order to early as it only has a fridge life of about 3 weeks. there is another similar product for other infestations, I used both.

Q: How long does it take for the treatment to work?

No difinitive answer, as they have to hatch and deal with the leather jackets. Best to apply in September after the crane fly have emerged to lay their eggs. Repeat in the spring when warm enough. Our lawn is beautiful now after above treatment.
