Drive Medical Walker Ski Glides, Black, 1 Pair for Smooth Movement

Great walker ski glides. I'm zipping over carpeting and floor transitions. Eliminates the sweaky sound of the original rubber feet. Easy to install. And a good price. I just don't understand why walkers don't come with these when purchased.

After the first set wore out, it was a no brainer to hit ¨buy it again¨. These glides work well, the black color looks good against the walker (they blend well) and they are not expensive. Word of warning, do not delay on getting a replacement pair. It is hard to take out the old pair if you wait too long. The ski part rips off before you can take it out. It is much easier to take off with the ski part intact. If it does rip off, don't despair. Take a heavy duty slotted screwdriver, punch a hole with the screwdriver and you can easily pry off the old glide. Tip for putting the glides on, put them on the best you can. They flip the walker the right way up and put pressure on the walker. The glides will snap in place.

I used these to replace the worn out glides on a folding walker make from 1in tubing. They are a force fit. I had to put one end of the tube on a concrete floor and hammer the other end hard with a hammer. It may help if you put a 45degree bevel on the outer edge of the glide stem to help it get started into the tube. I did one each way.

So far, so good. These have made moving through my mostly carpeted house quite a bit easier, although I still have to be careful not to lean too hard on the front legs and when I carry something heavy in the walker basket. They do what they're supposed to do and I consider them a good value for the price.

Clearly larger than the pieces they were meant to replace. Gave up trying to squeeze/pound them into rear legs after ten minutes. Returns on Amazon are usually really easy, but this time return was denied due to "seller's policy" The Drive Medical Amazon store states: "Return policy: Eligible for Refund or Replacement if damaged or defective" - but they do not give you a path to start a return with the manufacturer, and Amazon says it's not eligible for return...Amazon was kind enough to take care of the refund themselves after I chatted with a Bot.

I bought these to help with transitioning the walker between inside and outside. The round rubber trips were easily chewed up outside. With only a couple of outside trips on these slides, they started tearing up the inside floors because groves were cut in them. I abandoned them in favor of tennis balls. Those made that inside-outside transition much easier. The tennis balls were a lot cheaper, too. A box cutter with a new blade is the only way to easily cut the tennis balls and it is not easy to do that cutting safely. If the walker is used only on wood or tile, these slides would be fine. As soon as they make a couple of trips over concrete or asphalt, they can damage inside floors.

I’m now on my second order after only a month and the ski broke off. There must be a manufacturer quality issue because my mom uses her stroller in a bunglow with smooth wood floors so there is no unusual use that would cause this to break. But the ski has now broken a second time in the same place.

This product fit perfectly to repair my elderly parent’s walker. The price was a little more than I paid previously at a medical store, but it was the convenience of having the part delivered to her long term care home. I ordered an extra set of gliders in case this set of gliders deteriorates or breaks off again.
