Both impressed and perplexed.
I bought this grinder for a singular purpose of grind one thing. However I decided to try it out first on an assortment of hard spices to test the strength and grinding fineness of the motor/blades. Well after trying out on peppercorns, hazelnuts and cinnamon...color me impressed. The motor feels quite powerful for the size of the unit and the blades eventually catch all of the particles over the course of about 30-40 secs and some pulsing to grind all of the aforementioned things above into dust. (see pics of the ground peppercorns and pic showing them on top of store bought ground black pepper)Also something that impressed me was when. I purchased this item several months ago, there was only the description of the grinder being in the box, but upon opening the box I was pleasantly surprised to see that the order also included a spoon and brush combo as well as a pollen sifter w/ two pollen scrapers. The pollen sifter will work great if you grind specific herbs that you would like to keep the finest of the dust to coat something in. Perhaps...I don't know, whats that stuff all the cool kids are into now? Sun Stones? Lunar Sediment? I can't remember. But anyway, I guess that's the good of the product. So why only 4 stars? Okay, this is what perplexed me, the cup is not removable at all. Technically you could unscrew it but that would be more trouble than what its worth. So you must clean the the cup out with a wet cloth or sponge. Remember the brush they provided? Well, although I appreciate the gesture the brush doesn't do a great job of removing all the sediment and fine dust from the cup. As a matter of fact the heat produced from the grinding process causes the ground product to adhere quite strongly to the sides of the cup. The brush simply isn't designed to handle that. So if you are grinding "heat sensitive" things, keep in mind your going to want to have a more appropriate tool to properly collect all your grinding.Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, be VERY careful when washing the lid. There is a small, thin plastic tab (see pic) that serves as the activator for the grinder. If you break this tab as I have no doubt that someone has, then you are up the fabled fecal creek without a paddle. But, you will have a brand new paperweight, so there's that. It takes VERY little pressure to activate the grinder once you put the lid on. You will most likely still be "trying to put the lid on" when it suddenly whirs to life. All in all...I'm pleased with this product. Its not perfect by any means but good enough.

I bought this grinder twice. Each time the plastic covering inside broke into pieces.
I have bought this grinder twice. I used it to grind a combination of seeds: pumpkin, sunflower, flax, sesame, and chia, two tablespoons at a time. The seeds fitted easily into the grinder. In both grinders the plastic covering inside, covering the center of the blade, broke into pieces after a few months of use. The first time I didn't realize it until I mixed the seeds with my morning oatmeal, took bite and wondered what was in my oatmeal. "It that glass?" I thought to myself. When I spit it out I realized it was plastic and I investigated the grinder. The plastic had scattered. I was grateful not to have swallowed any of the jagged plastic pieces. I chalked it up to getting a defective grinder and just bought another one. With the second grinder it happened again. The second time I heard it crack and avoided putting the seeds and plastic in my oatmeal. My husband asked me it could run with out the plastic piece. I told him I did not know but I also don't want to pick plastic out of my seeds over and over until it has totally broke off. I am going to see if I can return both grinders for a refund.

Arrived pre-used and dirty but works great
The item had definitely been used and cleaned several times as 1/2 of the logo on the front is no longer there. Also, I received the grinder filthy and covered in coffee grinds inside and out. Not truly the seller's fault, that's why I kept the rating at 5, but they should inspect returned items before sending them out. Anyways, once I scrubbed and cleaned the grinder, I tried using it, half expecting it not to work but was pleasantly surprised - the little grinder worked like a charm, and it ground up my dried vanilla beans without a problem in about 30 seconds. My wrists are extremely thankful to no longer have to manually grind my vanilla beans, and I love having a stash of ground vanilla to use for my yogurts and smoothies. As for the item being pre-used and the logo being half gone - I purchased it while on sale and it works great (I tried different electric grinders in the past without success), so I am extremely happy with this tiny but mighty grinder product and really can't complain about price, quality, etc.
