Honestly, I never thought I’d be this hyped about a butter dish, but here we are. I’m really liking this one. Why it’s a win: • It’s Gorgeous: The grey (Oyster) color looks super sleek. It’s one of those items that actually makes my kitchen look more "put together." • Built Like a Tank: It has that heavy, high-quality feel you expect from Le Creuset. It doesn't feel fragile or cheap at all. • Actually Works: It keeps the butter at that perfect "easy to spread" texture without it getting gross or oily. Plus, the handle on top is easy to grab. • Easy Cleanup: I just throw it in the dishwasher and it comes out looking brand new. One heads up: It's sized perfectly for a standard stick of butter. If you buy those massive chunky blocks, you might have to trim them down a bit to get the lid to sit flush. I purchased the Le Creuset Stoneware butter dish a few months ago and have been really pleased with it. I chose the red color, which goes with my other Le Creuset pieces. I leave it out on the counter and keep a stick of butter in it so we have perfectly soft butter all the time. It looks great and keeps the butter fresh. The material is sturdy and beautiful and easy to clean. It goes in the dishwasher or is easily washed by hand.

This butter dish is the epitome of fancy stoneware. My husband, a potter himself, even gave his potter's seal of approval. It's heavy, the lid sits well into the base with a snug fit - as if these pieces were made to go together - and it appears to be pretty traditional and easy to use. I would recommend.

Butter dish color is perfect; it is sturdy and handle on lid is very helpful. Quality is nice and hope to enjoy it for years to come. Delivered on time and packaged very securely.

Le Creuset is a great company. This is a sturdy butter dish. I wanted black, but didn't realize that it was gray on top. It blends into black as it moves to the bottom. My mistake. It seems to close well. There is room for two sticks of butter or European butter. I would hand-wash it. That would be easy to do. I returned it due to the color. I was not sure that it would keep the butter fresh. I chose a dish with a silicone seal instead.

Update! They sent us a new butter dish out right away and it’s been fantastic!!! We love the “Le Creuset Stoneware Heritage Butter Dish”, it’s just the right size, it’s made well, and it’s easy to wash. It’s a very cute and functional butter dish. —————————————————- The butter dish is great, well that is to say that it WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT IF …it didn’t come with a SHATTERED bottom piece. :-( I’m so bummed! The entire bottom plate was shattered into pieces! These dishes are expensive and it literally had ZERO protective measures taken for such a fragile item during shipping. There was ZERO protection in or around the item, just one little layer of cardboard…that’s it! I’m sure this will soon be a favorite piece of kitchenware in our home when we finally get the piece replaced with one that is not broken. Haha I have to say that at least they made the process of replacing it a breeze with GREAT customer service! :-)
