Easy to apply
Kitchen install finished on the Friday , advised to oil wooden worktops . My Osmo oil arrived on Saturday , I also ordered some lint free cloths but on arrival a roller was suggested on oil container , which would be a good idea . Oil went on easily , with the cloth . The following day I reapplied it as directed , it has a pleasant smell which disappears when dry . Now I just have to wait and see how it works . Was a little sticky until it dried but I only discovered that when accidentally touched the worktop . After drying time complete it as fine , leaving a soft sheen to wood surface . For ease of use definitely recommend .

A little goes a long way
A little goes a long way! I was surprised by how little Osmo TopOil I needed to cover my worktop. It spreads easily, absorbs well, and leaves a beautiful natural finish without looking overly glossy.Applying thin coats is definitely the key, and the coverage is excellent.Great value for money, and I’d happily buy it again.

Very good- preparation is key!
I purchased this oil for my Oak worktops as the previous owners had let them get in a poor condition and I think they just coated them with a cheap oil from Ikea before we viewed the house.Anyway, before I applied the oil I stripped any remaining varnish from the worktop, this is the worst bit about the job!I started with an orbital sander and 80grit paper but it just clogged up. So I then stripped all worktops using a planer iron, basically scraping the finish off every mm of the surface- as you can imagine this was painfully slow and killed my fingers but as with all things, preparation is key!I then sanded with 80grit paper, followed by 120 grit paper and hoovered all surfaces to ensure it was dust free. (You don’t want to go above 180grit as it will be too smooth and you’ll close the grain so it won’t soak up oil)Once this was done it was time to apply the oil, put your gloves on for this.1) Shake the can2) Pour a small line along the worktop directly from the can and using a lint free cloth, spread the oil around the worktop. I know it’s tempting but you don’t want it too thick, otherwise it won’t soak in. It will just stay tacky.3) Allow to dry for 8 hours minimum or over night.4) Lightly Sand any areas that feel rough with 120grit paper and hoovered off.5) Apply more oil following step 2.6) Allow to dry again7) Apply a 3rd coat if you want but very thinly, especially around the sink area.I’m very pleased with the results and water beads on the worktops now, showing the oil is obviously water resistant and working.Makes cleaning/ wiping them much easier. The oil has darkened the colour of the worktops with a slightly orange tinge but I like it.I would advise doing a small tester section if you’re unsure of the finish.

A good sheen is given to wood
Gives the wood a nice sheen. Use in a well ventilated area as it is a bit of a strong odour.
