It doesn’t need a battery replacement. If you just opened the lighter from the packaging, you need to fill it with butane first and make sure the flame is adjusted. If that still doesn’t work, contact True Utility for warranty replacement or try to return it. I bought this and one other jet lighter and not impressed. It lasted about a year before i threw it away, the ignition trigger seems to ware out after a while and the flame jet is not very strong not great in high winds. The lid was always supprisingly awkward, it seemed to get in the way a lot as its maximum opening position is verticle just as the picture, i toyed with just snapping it off but the trigger gave out before i decided. Looks like a Zippo but with a jet flame, with benefit of hindsight i'd of bought a genuine zippo. The item in the picture that I thought I ordered resembled a Zippo lighter, the one I received looks totally different, I am very disappointed. The product description that I ordered was a TU460 but the product I received was a TU407K. Very misleading information.
