Turtle Beach Recon Chat Headset - PS4, PS5 & Xbox One

I normally don't write reviews but felt that the negative reviews did the product a serious injustice. It is a cheap product but does not feel cheap. Got it on sale, from the bad reviews I was thinking it is less than £5 so at worst I can use it as parts. It fits over the ear, so no pressure and discomfort on your ear, and you can hear the game sound from the TV perfectly. I did heat the plastic headband with almost boiling water to bend it into the shape I thought it should have been. That is the only negative for me, the packaging. it feels like the headset was jammed into a box that was a little too small for it, but that does not impact performance. Despite the negative reviews the headset is actually comfortable, so comfortable that after 5-10 minutes of gameplay I forget it is on. People complain about the foam, it is not the mesh foam, but then again the foam they have used here does not soak up sweat, which is a real plus and an issue I have had with the mesh foam headsets in the past. The foam is hard but comfortable. The only tweak I would suggest is a bit more volume. I have the headset volume on the PS4 outputs set to max for chat and max on the headset but it sounds a little quiet still. But then again it could be the volume on the mic from others. If you need a chat headset you cannot go wrong with this. And at £5 on sale it is a bargain. Thinking of buying a second as a spare.

I have used this product for about a month now, I find it a joy to put on because it's very comfortable. I wear glasses and it's really comfortable with them. The sound quality of the speaker is exceptional. It's clear. It's not the best, but for the pricetag it's very good. The mic quality as far as I can tell it's very good, it's doesn't pick up much background noise so it's clear for others to hear you. The earpiece is comfortable enough to use for long periods of time. Comes neatly packed, with a 3.5 Audiojack cable already attached. You just have to attach the earpiece to the hand band, which is a easy clip on and then it is good to go, very easy. Would recommend

Most headsets these days are stereo with game audio and voice Comms, making it really hard to find ones for just voice Comms. Fortunately Turtle Beach still have this headset which gives crystal clear voice Comms both one the mic and the ear piece. As it's open it's breath able which is appreciated in the hot weather. It looks a little uncomfortable, and it can be, but equally it's possible to get it in a very comfortable position. Also appreciate the fact it can be worn with glasses which is not something I had thought about when I ordered. One down side is the 3.5mm jack plug is not gold plated and oxidizes easily meaning if you leave is a while you'll not get a connection when plugging it in to a ps5 controller. Easily remedied though.

Genuinely pleased with it!!! The voices are loud and clear, the way it's made you genuinely can still hear your surround sound and voices with no issue, my buddies hear me crystal clear, genuinely a great product. Cheap, million times better than the standard one you get with the ps4 (not hard I know) BUT!!!!!...... people keep reviewing this item as having poor game sound. I have to defend it, IT'S NOT FOR GAME SOUNDS it's solely for the mic and hearing your team mates voices, if you want a gaming head set to hear your ps4 exclusively through it, DON'T BUY A MONO HEAD SET!! If you want a genuine great replacement for your ps4 mono mic head set, this is a great option

In Short: Don't waste your money, Looks cheap/feels cheap, performs cheap with added buzz and strange treble/equalization. Oh, and a short mic I'd had my old Turtle Beach Earforce P4C for roughly 3 years and the connector had started to fray at the end exposing the wires - still works fine though. The P4C was a little quiet but did the job, felt decent and other people in chat could hear me clearly. Anyway i had a look to see if anything had replaced it yet and the Recon Chat was listed as the replacement and it was due out on the 14th (it was the 13th so i pre-ordered it, great timing! Then it arrives, Oh Dear! The box/packaging looks great! unfortunately that's the best bit. You get a couple of bags inside, one is for the top plastic band and the other has the ear-cup/mic. There is a hole in the back of the ear-cup for the band to slot into - easy enough but damn this thing just feels cheap. The ear-cup itself doesn't have foam/padding going all the way around it, just has a strip at the top and bottom and inside there is no padding covering the speaker. The top band also has less padding than the P4C aswell. The mic is also on a lot smaller flex than the P4C and can't be rotated up like the old one. Is it as comfy as the P4C? - No, but it would have just been ok as a £15 headset if it worked like the old one did Into the PS4 controller it goes, straight forward, P4C out, Recon Chat in - nothing to change, check the mic in settings and it sounds ok and clear but it's like they've forgot to equalize it and whacked the treble up to full. Now into party chat to give this a whirl and immediately notice the treble like problem, people are clear but it just sounds strange like an equalizer issue - then i ask the important question...how do i sound?........the answer: buzzy! I'm apparently clear but everything i say is surrounded with a buzzing like sound (i don't get any of this in the playstation device testing bit, sounded fine to me) Tried the old headset just to make sure, yep no problems, new one in..buzzing :( Back it goes for a refund. I'll try something else.

Had these for a couple of years now. It's good for those who have a sound system that just want a mono earpiece/headset strictly for chatting. It's clear enough. The little gap for your glasses is a good feature so there isn't any pressure being applied to your ears. Although, the material used is seems cheap and it can get a bit pinchy with the headband as there isn't much foam padding. Overall, this headset loses points mainly on build quality, comfort and not being able to have Bluetooth connectivity as it is wired. P.s I just wish there was a much more better designed and more comfortable mono chat headset for people who have sound systems and want to be able to chat to others. There are dozens of us around the world! Dozens!

Perfect headset, got for the hubby after surgery on his head and couldn’t use his Ps headset. He said it’s perfect and is still using it weeks after. Impressed for the price. But it’s a good brand.

I received this headest today. Just before I review this product I would like to say I am not being paid or asked to write this review. 1. Build Quality: As cheap as it gets. 2. Chat Sound Quality: Good clarity in hearing other players and other players can also hear you clearly as well. It is definetly an imorovement over the standard ear piece mic that comes with the PS4. 3. Game Sound: Poor quality however this headset isn't really used to out put the sounds of the console exluding the chat. 4. Head Set Comfortability? - Can get uncomfortable at times. It feels like your head is clamped by the side where there is no ear piece. I've never used a single ear headset before so maybe that's also playing a part in how I feel on it's fitting? All in all I am happy with my purchase and would reccommend it to those people who are looking for a decent quality (in terms of chat not build) mic solely for communication purposes. P.S: I have only tested this mic for 3 or so hours. I will update my review with further findings in due course. I just felt like throwing my 2 cents out there for potential buyers. Update 02/09/17: Haven't been using the headset much after purchase. Maybe it's because of how cheap it feels? The urge just isn't really there to pick up and use... However all the above still stands, good mic clarity, other players can hear you, you can hear them depending on their connection and mic. Serves its core function well I guess which is being a chat only headset. That being said the the fitting is uncomfortable and I'm not sure it's healthy for your brain/head as the headset places pressure and squeeze on the head most notably on the sides. The build and the material also feel cheap. I will downgrade my 3 star rating to a 2 star based on the aforementioned points. All in all I would now not reccommend this headset and would have given it a 1 star if the mic quality wasn't decent.

Shipped and arrived quickly w/free standard shipping. Earpiece is HUGE and meant to literally sit around your ear, highly appreciated for someone with 3 helix piercings in 1 ear and an industrial in the opposite, also have 2 0G plugs in both my lobes that it doesn't bother. Highly adjustable sit, will fit any size. Great sound. Even brand new, the microphone's stick won't hold place long and will be victim to a lot of wear and tear due to its bendy nature. It is made of metal however. The way it plugs into the ps4 controller can be uncomfortable, as it is an L shape vs the regular I.

Simple budget headset with a smart design that does the job. The PS4 Gold wireless headset I had before was bulky and often got uncomfortable after long gaming sessions, also cancelling a lot of outside noise to the point where I'd be talking very loudly. The Turtle Beach headset prevents that so that you can better hear your tv and surrounding environment. Overall they're very comfortable, extremely lightweight, and easily adjustable. Would definitely buy it again
