Really impressed
I was impressed with the ease of use and quality of these tools for the price. As some reviewers mentioned, you will need to buy a 9V battery for the cable tester but they're easily picked up cheaply in pound shops or similar. Included is a simple 10-step instruction guide for making a network cable that was easy to follow. The picture provided of the different coloured cable order (1-8) is in black and white but clearly labelled. I would recommend colouring it yourself for reference though, or using a colour picture from online. The quality of the tools is on the whole high and the included RJ45 connecting heads and protective sheaths are a nice touch and the reason I went for this kit over others on Amazon. It took around 5-10 mins to make my first cable once I worked everything out and is certainly a lot cheaper than getting an engineer to do the much longer cable run I plan to do. No hesitation recommending to others.

Good tool kit
Iโve used the kit to make up a few RJ45 cables. Cutting cable is easy as is stripping the cover back. Termination on the supplied plugs is super easy too and once the cable is complete, the tester provides assurance that all cables are correctly inserted and in order. You do need one of those cuboid batteries. Even comes with BT joints. The actual crimper is as good as any Iโve used. Only thing I upgraded was the push tool but the one in the kit is ample. Overall I would highly recommend this kit. The quality is good enough to last my lifetime as a DIYer.

OK for DIY use
I used to make up cables in my job many years ago, nowadays I just buy them, however I've a need for some non-standard cable length so I bought this kit. The kit has everything in it that you should need to make up some RJ45 cables, at ยฃ20 it's not going to be the best in the world and given PRO kit is more than double this just for the crimpers alone, this should be sufficient for DIY needs. The included RJ45 plugs are OK, you can probably buy better elsewhere however they are perfectly fine for practising on. I took an old ethernet cable, cut it into lengths and started trying to crimp some plugs. First off, the cable stripper/cutter on the crimpers is useless - I used the straight edge on my needle nosed pliers to cut the cables straight. The yellow wire strippers are really good however and you only need a few turns to get through to the inner core of the cable. I'd forgotten how much of a pain it was to get the strands into the correct order, the included instruction book tells you what they need to be, but ensuring they stay in place whilst inserting into the RJ45 plug is a pain. However after 3 attempts I had a perfectly wired and functional cable. I tested it with the included cable tester, again, this works well but I wonder about it's longevity as after 3 tests, LED 8 was starting to flicker a little. I plugged the cable into my switch and my laptop and bingo, internet access. So to summarise, if you set your expectations according to the price and you're doing some DIY cables then this kit will be fine. If you're doing PRO installs then this isn't the kit for you.

Perfect solution for a job which I had put off for too long
Recently installed some Ethernet cable to connect up a video streaming box and replaced an unreliable Powerline connection. The kit was perfect for what I needed, and good value for money - just hope I can find more jobs to use it for so it doesn't go to waste. Manual was simple and clear - wiring diagrams were useful to refresh my memory and everything is working perfectly. I didn't need to use the tester gadget, but perhaps I will in the future. And careful - the wire stripper is sharp!!

Things go wrong but it's how they respond.
Great little kit for my first foray into wiring up the cables in my house. Easy to use and clear instructions. Tester had a LED failure on light 8 so I contacted the seller whom responded pretty much immediately with a refund to enable me to purchase a replacement tester or return the full kit. I only wanted to get a new tester so went for the partial refund. Refund done next day. Can't ask anything more from a service perspective other than it to work right first time but at the price it is to be expected things may not be up to scratch. Nonetheless it's how a vendor responds when things do go wrong that makes all the difference. An example of great service.

Essential wired networking test and make up tool.
Great value kit. Already used to trace wiring and check suspect connections. Replaced damaged connectors on several wires. Shortened one that was too long and retained excess as new cable by adding connector to cut end. A bit fiddly getting the 8 wires in the right sequence, and when in getting a good connection. Failure rate about 1 in 4, but the test kit immediately checks if ok ir not.

Not exactly as I'd hoped
I purchased the 9-in-1 kit. It stated 'passthrough' however the supplied crystal RJ45 jacks are not passthrough ones. The jacks also do not have a metal grounding sheath as shown in the photos. Even if I purchase passthrough type jacks, the crimping tool does not seem able to cut excess wire at the same time as the crimp, as with other crimping tools I've seen on videos.

Starter Pack
Bought this as i've never done anything to do with CAT connections and fed up with having to pay over the dds for professionals to install Ethernets - Last time it cost me ยฃ280 for three cables with a distance of around 45 foot max!! So yes i bought this kit plus some other bits from other suppliers.. Used this kit yesterday - Oh dear! Pro's Case, (Boots) rubber protectors, cable ties, cable tester all really good Crimper is ok as well but the connectors kept getting stuck and if you've watched video's like i did prior to doing this then there are better ones out there but as this is a starter pack they're ok to use. Cons Sheath cutter - Cuts to deep in which in turn cuts the pairs which you only find out when you straighten the wires RJ45 Connectors - Forget them if you trying to do CAT6 as they're to flimsy and I've wasted 10 plus now, go and buy other connectors and more so if CAT6 then buy the proper ones Punch Down tool - This says it'll cut the tails off once pressed down on a face plate as per: "Punch down wires and clip off excess wire in one motion", this tool does not have a blade to cut the excess wires so you have to use wire snippers. I've been quite critical on this review but as a starter pack it'll do; i'm no expert as this is the first time of trying this and potentially like you wanted to give this a go and try and save some money; I've now ordered new connectors and a new crimper so all in all I've still saved myself money, just hope they work now?
