Quite dissapointing audio and no instructions
I’m a radio ham but I didn’t expect Bose quality sound but the white noise background was terrible. The tuning knob it detented so not smooth and when tuning between notches there was a burst of sound like a gun shot which was especially loud when using headphones when it was like a Star Wars laser gun going off. Truly terrible. A mentioned there were no instructions at all so someone with no knowledge of what bandwidth or step size were would have to find this out themselves. It’s a shame as I has high hopes when I opened the box as the case seemed very solid made of metal and not plastic like I expected. The screen is ridiculously small and you will need a good pair of glasses to see the details.I thought this would be a good bit of fun too listen to the ham bands and short wave stations and honestly wasn’t expecting too much but the noise especially when tuning made it impossible.I returned the item a couple of days later.

Great portable receiver for the money
I got this for a great price(£33)and it was well worth the money. A shortwave receiver receiving FM/AM/SSB for that money is crazy. It is very basic and you may need your glasses on to read the screen but it works. The antenna it comes with is rubbish, it's too short for even 30MHz and it doesn't stand up straight at all and just swivels around so you can't stand it up vertical but i have a long wire plugged into it which is 200% better. The sound quality is good enough for the small speaker and the battery life is pretty good but it is a small rechargable battery, i have only used it to listen on 80 meter ham band so far and on the wire it was good for what it is. I am happy with it but would not pay much more than £35 for one as i'm sure some of the newer versions will come down in price soon.

Reception was dodgy!
Amazing little machine although very technical and is really for proper radio enthusiasts. The reception didn’t work properly though. I had hold my hand near or touch the device for there to be a clear signal. I don’t know exactly what is happening there technically but it’s like I’m grounding the signal or something or my body is like more antenna? Sounds weird but there will be some science there someone would be able to explain. But if I’m not near the device or touching it then the signal is fuzzy and not good to listen to.
