Very sharp and reliable – ideal for conduit and trunking
These have got to be one of my most used hand tools. Perfect for cutting PVC conduit, and I also use them on YT2 trunking without any issues. The blade is very sharp and most of the time you get a clean straight cut. Comfortable to hold and very durable, been dropped and thrown around with no noticeable damage. The only thing to be aware of is when you’re cutting very small sections. If you’re just taking a thin slither off, they can wander slightly and give a slightly uneven cut, as there isn’t enough material to guide the blade properly. Overall, a really reliable and easy-to-use cutter that’s ideal for day-to-day work.

Basic Cutter, feels cheap
I bought the CK PVC conduit pipe cutter at a discounted price of £27.99 instead of £47.99. Even at that, I feel a bit disappointed. They almost feel disposable. I have a couple of projects coming up where I need to cut a lot of 20mm conduit for an electrical installation, and my usual cutter has gone AWOL. Amazon Prime delivered in 48 hours. There is no ratchet (oversight on my part), so cutting is down to brute force and while that’s OK for small jobs, or hose pipes, after a while, using them over and over on PVC Conduit takes its toll. The glass fibre reinforced body in my rough hands may as well be a bar of wet soap. There is no grip, so if you’re a tradesman leave the gloves on. I’m not sure the blade is replaceable. I can take anything apart, but this looks like a full strip down IF I can get new blades in the future. IF it lasts that long as well. It is also easy to get the cut off at an angle, or even have the PVC split and break due to the cutting motion. I’m a bit OCD on cuts, but depending on which trade you are your tolerances may vary. Overall, they cut PVC pipe. Not amazingly, not perfectly straight every time, not easily and not comfortably, but they do cut. If it is for a single install or arts and crafts they’ll serve a purpose.
