Clean Taste, Beautiful Design, and Worth the Slower Initial Filtering
I bought this LifeStraw Home water filter pitcher for my apartment during grad school since the water quality in my area isnโt the best, and Iโve been really happy with it overall. One of the main reasons I chose this was the glass pitcher. I like that it reduces the amount of plastic in contact with my water, and it just feels cleaner and more premium compared to typical plastic pitchers. The silicone base is also a nice touch since it helps prevent slipping and protects surfaces. The water tastes really good, noticeably cleaner and fresher compared to straight tap water. Itโs reassuring knowing that itโs designed to filter out a wide range of contaminants, which was a big priority for me. One thing to keep in mind is that the filtering process is a bit slow at first. The first few uses take longer to fill up, just like the instructions mention, but it does get better over time. Itโs not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of if youโre expecting instant results. Itโs also easy to use day-to-day, and the size is perfect for keeping in the fridge without taking up too much space. Overall, I think itโs a great upgrade from more common and popular water filter pitchers. It looks better, feels higher quality, and does a great job improving water taste and quality.

Improving the quality and safety of potable water the easy way
I bought this product to ensure that the family drinking water is as safe as it can possibly be. The drinking water where I live is river sourced. The problem with this is that we are all aware of declining potable water quality arising from toxins and increasing water temperatures. I also have a sediment and chemical reducing water pitcher for cooking and the pets. As for the LifeStraw glass pitcher, after assembly and following the use instructions I did not experience any of the leaks or problems I read in other reviews. It works as intended. The water is impeccably clean and I trust reducing microorganisms. Great tasting water too! As for the comments concerning slowness, the filter system is indeed SLOW. It takes about 30 minutes for the water cone to drain. What I do to compensate for this is to keep the pitcher topped up by refilling after a glass or two of water to avoid running out. As I said the alternate water pitcher is used for cooking and pets and is a fast fill for this purpose. I have used other inline systems for water purity and find the LifeStraw is easier and cheaper to maintain. I would not hesitate to buy this product again. I will be adding a LifeStraw hiking filter to my vehicle travel kit. Finally, I appreciate what the company does in bringing potable water filters to problematic countries and thus accept the slowness. For a good clip on this subject watch Dan Becker's YouTube trip to Africa with the LifeStraw Program.

Very nice glass pitcher and filter
I was looking for a water filter/pitcher with less plastic and so far really like this one. I had read complaints about how long it takes to filter. I donโt find it takes much longer than other filters. The instructions tell you it will get faster after the first couple of cycles and I found that to be true. Others also complained about the weight. It is a bit bottom heavy when full but I just use two hands to hold it and itโs fine. It looks really nice and I love the way the top flips up on its own when you have it under running water to refill. I bought this as a โused-very goodโ condition and am very happy with it.

Very difficult to change the carbon filter
UPDATE ON ORIGINAL REVIEW: Although all my initial concerns remain, the water quality outweighs the negatives with this filter. The pitcher is weighted so that it is easier to pour than one might expect given the weight of it full of filtered water. The glass does make it heavy. I have not chemically tested the output, but the filtered water in this unit is crystal clear with a noticeably better taste than with any of my prior counter filters. And, at least so far, I notice no residue in the bottom of my kettle after boiling water from this filter. VERY disappointed. I've had lots of water filter brands and this one has serious problems. The plastic filter cartridge is extremely difficult to get out once in. And the end cap where you insert the carbon filter is almost impossible. I had to run hot water over the end and pry the cover off with a butter knife to be able to get the end cap off to put the carbon filter in. If this cures itself over time, I'll re-do my review. But I definitely do not want to fight with this every two months. Water is filtered uber slowly, but I'm ok with that if it is actually doing that much filtering. The problem it creates though is that you have have to "fill" it several times to get more than a cup of water filtered in it. From there on it's guess work as to how much water to add. I suppose it is designed to add more water after every use. But it's cumbersome compared to other counter top water filters like Barrier or Pur or Brita. I bought this (1) because I started noticing more and more residue left in my electric kettle which told me my old counter filter was not working to the level it had, even with a new filter. But also (2) because I liked that the container is glass to cut down on microplastics ingestion. But then the whole filtering casing is plastic that sits down in the water, so I'm not sure the glass does much more than add weight. I can't believe other reviews have not mentioned these obvious design flaws. I'm HOPING the water quality will make all of this worth it. But that remains to be seen....

Worth it, worth it, worth it
I worked in the outdoor industry for almost a decade so I already knew LifeStraw was a reliable brand. We have highly suspicious water from our office tap and I wanted a filter so I could stop bringing in my heavy 5gal bottle. This pitcher isn't the fastest, because it WORKS. Look at what it filters compared to other more famous water filter pitcher brands- this does a lot more than just improve taste, like Brita or Waterdrop. Although it's still not super fast, the filter speed did increase dramatically after several uses. Besides, speed is not what you buy a filter for- you buy it for function. With a 7-cup capacity I don't need speed anyways, by the time I drink my water the pitcher is ready to pour and refill again. I'm harping on this because I've seen several other reviewers give this a poor review because of filtration speed. I can see how it could be tedious if you have a big household, but if you care about more than how your water tastes, you're gonna sacrifice speed for filtration quality. Also so glad in comes with a glass pitcher- a little less plastic never hurt anyone. Get this pitcher.

The best!
Absolutely love this filter, I can taste the difference and I'm so happy to not use plastic anymore. Best and most used purchase of the year, I recommend it to all my friends. Great water quality and value for money. It is slow and you need to refill many times, but I got so used to it, I fill several bottles at a time for the refrigerator and it has worked great. Probably not for a house with many people though.

Too slow
Slowest water filter ever. Smallest drip comes out and takes forever. Wouldnโt recommend this

Not great for couples or families
The water filter action system is great donโt get me wrong but itโs incredibly slow. I wouldnโt recommend for families or couples. Itโs really only good for individuals. You also canโt really poor while itโs filtering. The trap at the top tends to leak water if itโs still really full and you go to poor a drink of the filtered water. Leaving you with either a mess or a mix of filtered and un filtered. I do love the high quality filtration it provides and the taste of the water. Another big draw for me was that fact itโs made out of glass and BPA free plastic. All in all I just donโt think it was the right fit for my high traffic household. Would love lifestraw to make a standing unit with a dispenser.

Tasty, crisp, brain-eating amoeba-free water
I have a zero water filter that I use for getting rid of particulates and smell for cooking, but it makes the water taste a little funny and dead. This bad boy actually filters, the dangerous stuff out of water like micro plastics, bacteria and most importantly for people who need to nasally irrigate like me, amoebas. No more need to boil or buy distilled water. Oh, and the carbon filter works well to get rid of offensive odors, but doesn't make the water taste dead

Perfectly clean water made easy
Very happy with my purchase. The water has no taste and the jug filters well. It's not super fast but that's ok as the results are great. I read that some people have trouble with the filter being too slow at the start. I soaked my filter in water for five minutes before inserting it into the jug and gave it a bit of a shake so that the bubbles disappeared. The filter worked well from the start. The jug looks very modern and is easy to fill. I just add water when I pass the jug and leave it on my benchtop. Great to know that my water is very clean.
