I bought these Irwin strippers mostly based on other reviews but also because they looked slightly better from the photos. I based this mostly on how clear the stamped writing looked since cheap tools often are badly stamped.I am not a professional now but I was for many years so I have a pretty good idea when tools are good quality and these are pretty good.There seem to be a load of wire strippers all looking identical so it's hard to tell if it's worth paying the extra for 'Brand' name items like these but I think I did the right thing buying them as the strippers I received seem to be high quality and so far are working well.I don't think they would be suitable for heavy gauge solid core mains wire but hopefully nobody would be daft enough to buy them for that kind of use.They are probably not meant to be used for removing the outer insulation of 3 core flex either but I tried it and it worked so....In summery as a wise man said buy cheap and buy twice. These are not crazy expensive but not the cheapest so hopefully will give years of service.

I took the plunge and bought these wire strippers having constantly been battling with the pull type ones. They are fantastic, makes stripping all types of wire such a breeze. Did take some practise to start with to get the hang of them. They are now my go too tool. The extra functions like the cutters and crimping bits are very handy too if you only have the one tool to hand or forget your proper crimpers. I have a lot of Irwin Vise Grip tools because of their robustness, which these fit in very well.

This is a robust, well designed tool, strips cable with ease and a real tome saver. It is simple to use and value for money. I recommend it.

Wanted one of these for a while now and spotted the great price and you know the rest..Reckoned to be the leading product in it’s field, I think everyone who does a bit of electrical work should get one. Simple to use and very well made. Very pleased.
