2014 Reprint of 1927 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This classic work is a collection of essays written by Le Corbusier advocating for and exploring the concept of modern architecture. The book has had a lasting effect on the architectural profession, serving as the manifesto for a generation of architects, a subject of hatred for others, and unquestionably a critical piece of architectural theory. The architectural historian Reyner Banham once claimed that its influence was unquestionably "beyond that of any other architectural work published in this [20th] century to date". That unparalleled influence has continued, unabated, into the 21st century. The polemical book contains seven essays. Each essay dismisses the contemporary trends of eclecticism and art deco, replacing them with architecture that was meant to be more than a stylistic experiment; rather, an architecture that would fundamentally change how humans interacted with buildings. This new mode of living derived from a new spirit defining the industrial age, demanding a rebirth of architecture based on function and a new aesthetic based on pure form. Review: Brilliant book - I have been interested in Le Corbusier's work for quite a while now, and so i bought this book to learn more. It is a very good book in my opinion, running through a lot of Le Corbusier's major ideas and works. Enlightening
This is a major modernist text wnich give a clear idea of where le Corbusier is coming from. His vision of archtecture is influenced by classical greek temples and modern engineering. This Amazon box is so small i cant see what I am typing. hope it comes out alright

Very well received this book by Le Corbusier provides an intriguing insight to the man himself whilst detailing the designs and notions for which he is so rightly famous.

Le Corbusier 101
Great overview of Le Corbusiers design methodology and influences. Print quality is not great, as it looks like a photo reproduction. For the price, it's a reasonable book and an easy read

The book is a classic, paper quality is bad
It’s Le Corbusier, you know what to expect from this book in terms of content, but the quality of the paper is terrible, it’s the same kind of bond paper I have in my printer at home.

Architects: Read it! Love it! Hate it!
You probably wont understand Le Corbusiers work without knowing the Time, it's Problems and this Book. No more to say. Except: We know it in big parts better today. The Car-City is dead and Steel is also more expensive today. But one extraordinary concept in it, is a house made in it's mainstructure out of steelreinforced-concrete, framed with a cheap wooden construction, filled with strewbales and plasterted by machine - It would work wonderfully, still today!

Must read
Maybe the most important book on modern architecture, an easy read and very interesting for the understanding of Le Corbusier's big mind.
