Broken Arrow [Blu-ray] [Region B]

Want explosions? You got em. Want guns? Check. Want to see John and Chris (and John) before they crashed and burned? This is a good opportunity for that. Want classy support in the shape of Samantha Mathis and Frank Whaley? There is that too. This is an awesome actioner. Do not believe the reviews this film rocks. From the opening boxing match thru the helicopter vs park ranger and hero chase to the absurdly thrilling conclusion any boxes that need checking Broken Arrow checks em. Slater is terrific as the hero. Travolta is a hoot and a half as the villain. Mathis tags along for the ride whilst Whaley looks frantic a lot (but he does it so well). Delroy Lindo also appears as a good guy. Bob Gunton is superb as the exasperated boss of Travolta. The entire cast does not put a foot wrong. Aside from the excellent cast this film scores with it's amazing action. And Travolta's quips. For more John Woo see Face/Off.

Arrived in prompt quick time.recollected this before prior to watching on dvd. Major deakins plots to hold us goverment to ransom after stealing nuclear warheads from a flying excercise mission and its up to his assistant pilot captain hales unlikely pair park ranger to foil his plans. Guns and explosions trying to outwit each other, top form slater a savour,cast shines comes to the fore, thrilling conclusion face to face.

Decent film

One of the best John Woo's movies with Travolta and Slater on top form! I really like it!

John Travolta and Christian Slater are ideal as hero and villain the film has everything

This is a film I grew up enjoying & haven't visited in a long time. Now I've matured a bit I can say that this film is enjoyable garbage. There is a scene at the end of this film where a shootout takes place from a caorgo train carage & a helicopter. The cargo train has wooden slatted walls with huge gaps to outside in it. Here we see Travolta's character hide behind these slatted walls from incessant gunfire & closing the door (made of the same slats) to hide from the gunfire. I call this BS. there is nowhere here to hide from the bullets The gunfire would eat through the wood in seconds and Travola & Friend would be gonners. Not thought out at all well. I was not a fan this time round either of Hans Zimmer's dreadful score that is meant to sound all macho & gunho. but instead sound cheap & overbearing. Travola is best thing here his performance stands out over everyone, Slater is ok but doesn't offer anything new to the table and personally Samantha Mathis is just totaly miscast & doesn't at all come across as believable as a park ranger. The film is enjoyable to waste 90 minutes. but I now realise I wish I hadn't wasted money buying it especialy on blu ray as it's not great in anyway. There is nothing in the way of extra features on the disc, so like I say. borrow or rent it unless you are a major fan.

Guter John Woo Film der leider nicht an die Klassiker von ihm heran kommt. Spaß macht er trotzdem. Die Bluray ist leider selten und das Bild leider kein Highlight. Standard Mpeg Kompression und ein Transfer der nie wirklich scharf wirken will. Besser als die DVD auf jeden Fall aber ich hoffe irgendwann gibt's mal eine gute UHD zu dem Film
