Fairly easy to set up. You need to download an app to your phone and you need to have your phone plugged into the goggles to activate the gps feature (cables included) other than that it’s pretty much plug and play straight out the box. The goggles are absolutely fantastic and give you an amazing flying experience. The hand controller is very intuitive and not only super simple to use, but once you get used to it you’ll really love it. I would definitely recommend buying the extra battery pack as the drone battery lasts about 8 minutes of flying. Everything about this drone is great, apart from the range. The box says it has a range of 10km, but it’s nowhere near that far. I’ve got a 4 acre property and if I’m sat in the middle it starts flashing a range warning when I fly off my property. But there’s lots of buildings and trees on my property. I watched a YouTube test that was done over unobstructed flat farmland and they recorded the range at about 2km

DJI Avata, Goggles 2, RC Motion 2 Cons: - Distance is limited to about 1.5-2 miles line of sight, much less if there are houses or hills between view. - Supposed to be able to fly without cell phone but I haven't figured that out, when I disconnect or don't connect the drone loses connection. - Battery can fall out with collision Pros: - RC Motion 2 is super easy to fly with, I've seen the negative comments, if you're drone racing it may not give you quite the control needed, but for recreational flying it is fun and easy. Caveat, I haven't tried in Manual Mode yet, that may increase functionality to be on par with regular controller - Goggles 2 are very comfortable, outstanding granularity on view, small enough that you quickly don't notice, eyes are very adjustable both in pupil distance and focus. They also come with inserts for prescription if needed - Flight time is good, I get about 15 min per battery in Sport Mode and rarely hovering - Speed is maxed at about 30mph, not sure if that is setting, I'm still learning to customize

You don't know until you buy this that your FAA ID has to be verified prior to EACH liftoff. This means that you have to have your phone connected to the goggles, WITH A NETWORK CONNECTION, before you can fly the drone. If you're in your front yard, now you need your phone WIRED to the goggles to fly. BTW, this also drains the goggles' battery, because it's charging your phone now. If you're in nature, without a network connection, you're hosed. No fly. None. No drone flight. Period. If you can't wire your phone to the goggles AND get a network connection to your phone (you know, like everywhere worth photographing) then you're not allowed to take off. This is NOT acceptable. I'll be returning mine, which is too bad, because it's a nice unit that flies well.

Do not regret my purchase, this peace of equipment is easy to operate and maintain. Had zero experience with this kind of SUAS when it came to operating, yet with in no time was able to fly around my house. It is most definitely designed for first time users, my daughter with zero operating experience was able to maintain level flight strait heading and by then end was zipping around the backyard. The video and pictures quality is amazing. Only suggestion is that I can make is a purchase more then one battery. Battery life is exactly as the manufacturer states, as well as the charge time. So if you want to optimize flight time through out your day I highly recommend two to three batteries depending on what your mission is.

I don't generally write reviews, I click x amount of stars and get back to my day. In this instance though I felt compelled to make a few comments. As stated this is my first drone ever, I did a lot of research, always interested but not enough to shell out the substantial cost these things demand. I finally stumbled across the Avata, watched several hours of YouTube videos, read all the reviews I could find, put it in my cart and I now own it. The clincher for me was the FPV. Being able to fly from the perspective of the drone is just too cool. The Avata does deliver on this, however I have noticed a few things that hopefully will help any other perspective newbies not make the same mistakes I did and will save them some time. First, as stated this thing is amazing, The goggles 2 work really well, I don't get a headache or motion sick, they are comfortable to wear and the resolution is good. The Motion 2 controller works really well and on my first flight I was able to easily maneuver through trees over fences and down some canals. I have run into a few problems and here are my recommendations to hopefully help someone else avoid them. 1. Make sure you have a really high quality USB cord or better yet three of them. It is really frustrating to travel to a flight zone and your goggles will not connect with your phone. 2. The Fly More kit is a must but in addition order an extra Goggle battery, it would be nice if the Fly more kit included one. 3. Pay attention to the Micro SD cards you get. Do your research to avoid the Slow SD error code. San Disk Extreme Pro or Lexar Professional Gold are what I am trying out. 4. Get a really good usb charger, these batteries take a long time to charge and you want to be able to charge everything simultaneously. 5. The first few times you fly bring somebody with you to help lookup and clear error codes. Having to constantly take off the goggles to lookup fixes can be tedious. 6. If you are a beginner there is no such thing as a quick flight, it will take on average twenty minutes to get setup and into the air. 7. Get a good case, you have to carry a lot of gear and this will make it easier. My one and only real gripe about the Avata and many share this same viewpoint, is downloading video. Could it have been that difficult to put a usb port somewhere that's easy to access? That is my review, I hope it helps somebody who is either deciding to buying an Avata or putting one in their cart.

Though you can’t go 60 with the motion controller, it is significantly more intuitive (like a Wii remote) to fly with, and you can still go very fast, fast enough to learn to fly with before getting a controller in the future. Everything works very smoothly, the drone itself is durable and battery life is very good for an fpv drone, though I would recommend getting a couple extra for that extended use. It takes beautiful cinematic video that is so much more “personalized” because it really feels like you’re there, taking the video/photo yourself

I usually expect more from a high tech product than the reality. This is different, it did what is was described to do. It was easy to fly the first time with no FPV experience. It was intuitive and did everything that as advertised. I took it out and started flying it the first time. I am not a great flyer yet but I did pretty good in normal and sport mode. It appears to be solidly built and should take a bump or crash. It was a pleasant surprise and a joy to fly. It is a relaxing way to fly around the neighborhood like Superman. I am a 60+ year old man, high tech gadgets should not be this easy, but it is. I would recommend this to friends and family

I like this so much better than my other drones from the same company. The only downside is it does get pushed around by the wind a little and it does need a better antenna system on both fans to really fly beyond your line site. I got mine at a crazy deal I think because the last person couldn’t figure out how to fly. In order to fly it, you have to tether it to your phone. Otherwise it will not takeoff and that has to do with the drone laws here in America.
