YONICO Classical Roman Ogee Router Bits Edge Forming 3/8-Inch 1/2-Inch Shank 13126

When the cheap plastic frame on a large mirror broke, my daughter wanted a new wood frame for it. Using some leftover and rather knotty 2x6 lumber, we ripped it and fashioned a functional but rather boring-looking frame. On seeing the YONICO Classical Roman Ogee Router Bit (1/2" shank) while browsing on Amazon, I decided to give it a try to give it a bit of character..The Classical Roman Ogee bit looked great coming out of the package and it went well through approximately 21 feet, inside and outside the frame, through typical wood and knots alike (see photo for example). Yes, it took a quick sanding with the sander at the cut-to-frame interfaces, but the routed portion took only a very light hand-sanding with 320 grit sandpaper to get it ready for priming and finish painting. The bit cut uniformly well and evenly, and looked the same at the end as it did at the start. I give this one 5* and a highly recommended rating.

YoNico makes nice router bits for the money and there really isn’t much to complain about with this router bit. It’s just not a white side.

I purchased this while I was making a couple of small wooden boxes. I had been using a Bosch Roman Ogee bit with the same dimensions but, it was at least 5 years old and beginning to burn the wood and had a few minor chips in it. Although I've been woodworking for a few decades I purchased this bit thinking that a bit with the same dimensions and name would create the same profile, when I ran a test on a scrap piece of wood, they looked the same but, I was wrong. The bit cuts as smoothly as would be expected of a new router bit but there's a slight detail that didn't match the Bosch bit.I certainly can't take anything away from the quality of the YONICO bit because it performs quite well and, I would purchase their router bits again. The issue I had was my fault.

I used this bit on several pieces of standard dimensional, pine lumber. Also used it on old stock very old pine, which is much harder. The blades held up flawlessly. Coating is smooth and without imperfection.If you’re considering Freud, Whiteside, or Amana, I’d say to give Yonico bits a go first to determine if it will satisfy your expectations.. If your running hundreds of meters of board daily, and you’re making cabinets then you will want Freud four blade bits.

Great bit. It worked very good with my under powered router that I got from the pawn shop. So imagine how good it will be with a good router. Good quality and very sharp out of the box. I have other bits from this brand and they are working good too. My pictures are using it on pressure treated construction wood.

Router bit stays sharp even after much use. Come in it own box.
