Used it to disable the primary garage door sensor when I open my car’s hatchback door. That way no one accidentally closes the garage door on it.

I returned original set as the relay did not work. I received the second set to find the relay does not work. The transmitter is easy and little indicator LEDs show power. The receiver also has little LED indicator lights showing power and another indicator light turning on when blocked (from transmitter) and turning off when the path was clear from transmitter. I jumpered the +12v ac power to the COMmon terminal. I then used my multimeter to check and see the +12v ac as I moved in and out of the path from the transmitter. The 12v ac voltage never was seen on the NC terminal in either condition. The relay on the board is a small unit, but usually I would expect to hear a small click as it switches from closed to open. I am an electrical engineer and pretty much understand how all of this works. They have both been faulty now and I am returning the second unit and finding another competitive product.

I used them as an upper garage door safety sensor. This interrupts the lower sensors when the hatch on our suv is open with the garage door open.

I need every inch of my garage space. Can’t waste grounds between the car and the door. Have installed the sensors across about bumper height on the door frame, and a light controlled by the sensors on the opposite wall. The light is on when the beam is interrupted. As soon the light goes out I know my car bumper has cleaned the door, and I stop! Doesn’t matter what size car, nose in or back in. One star off for not having brackets.
