Product Description Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final adventure in the Harry Potter film series, is a motion picture event, told in two full-length parts. Part 1 begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the horcruxes--the keys to Voldemort’s immortality. On their own, without the guidance or protection of their professors, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are dark forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart. Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort’s Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as Voldemort’s followers look for Harry with orders to bring him to the Dark Lord…alive. Harry’s only hope is to find the horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale--the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks. desertcart.co.uk Review Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I is a brooding, slower-paced film than its predecessors, the result of being just one half of the final story (the last book in the series was split into two movies, released in theaters eight months apart). Because the penultimate film is all buildup before the final showdown between the teen wizard and the evil Voldemort (which does not occur until The Deathly Hallows, Part II), Part I is a road-trip movie, a heist film, a lot of exposition, and more weight on its three young leads, who up until now were sufficiently supported by a revolving door of British thesps throughout the series. Now that all the action takes place outside Hogwarts--no more Potions classes, Gryffindor scarves, or Quidditch matches--Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione), and Rupert Grint (Ron) shoulder the film almost entirely on their own. After a near-fatal ambush by Voldemort's Death Eaters, the three embark on a quest to find and destroy the remaining five horcruxes (objects that store pieces of Voldemort's soul). Fortunately, as the story gets more grave--and parents should be warned, there are some scenes too frightening or adult for young children--so does the intensity. David Yates, who directed the Harry Potter films Order of the Phoenix and The Half-Blood Prince, drags the second half a little, but right along with some of the slower moments are some touching surprises (Harry leading Hermione in a dance, the return of Dobby in a totally non-annoying way). Deathly Hallows, Part I will be the most confusing for those not familiar with the Potter lore, particularly in the shorthand way characters and terminology weave in and out. For the rest of us, though, watching these characters over the last decade and saying farewell to a few faces makes it all bittersweet that the end is near (indeed, an early scene in which Hermione casts a spell that makes her Muggle parents forget her existence, in case she doesn't return, is particularly emotional). Despite its challenges, Deathly Hallows, Part I succeeds in what it's most meant to do: whet your appetite for the grand conclusion to the Harry Potter series. --Ellen A. Kim Review: Excellent. - Excellent Review: Flawless ! - I have read many reviews. I like to get the opnion of other people, even when I have my own firm opinion. I was highly dissapointed at the many people who are unhappy with this film. Whether it be for recreational reasons compared to the book or the fact that they think the film being split into two parts is wrong, do not listen. Of course, those people are entitle to an opinion, as am I. But here is what I think : Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is a flawless, fast paced, spectacular movie. It was, for me, the best film of 2010. The visual effects were amazing, for both creatures and spells. The soundtrack played throughout the film is a work of genius and perfectly sets the mood for this scary, action packed, amusing, heart warming, heart breaking, fantasy movie, packed to the brim with magic and wonder. I was highly surprised and delighted when I received this product earlier than scheduled. I was not expecting it's arrival and found myself flooded with excitement. I immeadiately watched the movie, and all of the extra features, and enjoyed every moment of it. I then watched the movie twice the next day. It is one of those movies that gets better when you watch it and, personally, I find it does not get boring. It is just as good, and better in some ways, than the other Harry Potter movies which I love. This movie lives up to the plot of the book, and more. As with all the movies, scenes have been added to add effect and convey emotion that is too difficult to show otherwise. I found these extra scenes spectacular, adding more emotion the potion that is this amazing work of art. EVen the jokes and dialogue lived up to the book, like George's "Holey" joke. The movie is just as fast paced and exciting as the book, and keeps you wanting to watch more. The extra features of this movie were great. Placing the second disk into the DVD player I wondered how good they were going to be, as throughout the series, the depth of extra features has changed. I was delighted with what I found. An array of deleted scenes which I enjoyed watching just as much as the movie, added to explanation and depth of the story, to the people who may not have read the book. Interviews with the cast and showing the friendships between them all were great to watch and I was very interested and enveloped while watching how some scenes were filmed, like "The Seven Potters Scene", "The sky Battle Scene" and "Godric's Hollow". Overall, I would say the best extra features of any Harry Potter DVD to date. Overall, this is definately worth buying. I am an enormous Harry Potter fan and always have been ( always will be). The plot is perfectly followed and ends with a nice cliffhanger, making you want more. While I could have watched the second part easily, I understand that it would easily take another movie of two and a half hours, to finish this amazing franchise. I really, highly recomend this...one of my favourite purchases in a while, out of the many Harry Potter things I buy.

At Last!
This one is for lovers of the books - not "non fans" or smug critics who do not appreciate the genius of JK Rowling or the original target audience she was aiming to reach with her books i.e 11 to 18 year olds. Or for those who harp on about how it is impossible to recreate the books as the media of film is so different - duhhh. With the money Warner's are making - anything is possible and thankfully this has come to pass..... I think I have been to the cinema about 3 times in the last 10 years, but had to see this one. I was prepared to be a bit dissapointed, as I have been from Prisoner onwards. However this film is very close to the book, even going so far as to mop up plotlines missed or skirted around in the other films. The tone of the movie is set from the outset, with poignant scenes of Hermione and Harry leaving their family homes never to return. Didn't even mind that they missed out Dudley's epiphany with regard to Harry. The escape scene was comedic then epic in equal measure. The wedding at the Burrow was rushed but all the important parts were there. Criticism has been levelled at the long shots of the British countryside during the camping phase. I think that people who poo-poo these are missing the point - they set the tone of the character's isolation and separation from the rest of their world. Plus, what an advert for British tourism! The finding of the Sword of Gryffindor and the visit to Godric's Hollow were spot on. The capture by the snatchers and the scenes at the Malfoy's manor were brilliant, thanks in no small part, to Helena Bonham-Carters joyously spiteful portrayal of Bellatrix. I'm also so glad they included Dobby this time as he has been a key character that was badly missed from previous efforts. This film takes us as far as the arrival at Shell Cottage and of the theft of Dumbledore's wand by Voldermort. Assumedly, the next film will kick off with the break in of the Lestrange vault and the escape from Gringotts by dragon. If the makers have given the same care and attention to the final film - I absolutely cannot wait!

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 1
The movie is absolutely amazing some may even regard it as the best harry potter movie of the entire franchise!! With quick delivery, amazing prices and great service from amazon watching this movie will be a blast! The acting is amazing from all three stars especially Rupert Grint who plays Ron, shows a slight possessive and jealous side to himself, when he feels suspicious of Harry and Hermione's closeness. Emma Watson is a fashion icon we all know that but she proves herself with versatility with every harry potter movie, the way Hermione is feeling emotions of confusion, pain and compulsion between choosing friendship and coming on terms with her own personal feelings for Ron is ecstatic; she truly is a wonderful actress and will have a great future. Daniel Radcliffe has grown before us through our own eyes over the years not only physically but his acting has improved too. The way he displays anger and frustration towards Dumbledore who he feels left him with an impossible task, along with his 'connection' to Voldemort getting stronger and powerful (and the name being tabooed ofcourse), he shows how Harry has developed over the last decade by carrying the burden of the entire wizard beings he is the only one that can save his kind, whether pureblood, halfblood or even muggleborns. The final wizarding franchise all depends on Harry and as he is figuring himself along with his friends and their loyalties potter world has never been madder;a must!!!!!!

With this next to last installment of the Harry Potter series, we have the beginnings of a major, but logical, turn of events. Deathly Hallows Part 1 leads us into that final reckoning with Voldemort that we all know has been coming, and, as such, a much darker take on that inevitability. All previous movies have really been about the training necessary to confront the boss; mere rehearsals for the final showdown. With these final two installments we get to the real heart of the matter and it must be darker. No, Hallows Part 1 (and for that matter Part 2 as well) are not as much fun as the previous movies. This one's getting much more serious, as it should. These movies are so superbly crafted and executed that they are a testament to the near reverence held for the source material by Rowling. The directors have done an amazing job bringing Rowling's books to life in a way that truly reflects their spirit. Needless to say it's also a testament to the wondrous descriptive writings of Rowling which enabled this to happen in the first place. Also, as a movie, we watch as the character relationships between Ron and Hermione and Harry and Ginger come to fruition. The acting by all concerned in these films has been a delight to watch. I have only one negative, and that has to do with the 3D version of the film: it comes across as way too dark. When I watch the 2D Blueray version, it looks great, but for some reason, 3D is not nearly as enjoyable because of that darkness. I attempted to find some way to lighten it up, but couldn't figure it out. My other 3D films, such as Avatar or Life of Pi, etc don't have this problem, so I am wondering if it was simply a case of this particular version of the Deathly Hallows that has this issue. Part 2 has the same problem in 3D. I will continue to investigate and see if there is any solution to this. BTW: I have a 60" LG "smart" 3D tv. I have had no other issues at all with other 3D films with this set. If you are a fan of the whole Harry Potter experience, Deathly Hallows Part 1 is a must and is yet another very worthy work of art in that franchise. Obviously, if you are not a fan, then there is probably little here that will compel you to seek it out. It is part of a piece and an essential component of the whole.
