When it says cut the piece 1" long, make sure you cut it 1" long. Keep it a straight cut. When it says to place the piece in the bike and measure and mark on the piece to make the first cut, push it down a good bit. Not super forcefully but don't just set it in there. Put some force on it. then mark it. Maybe make the cut 1/16" higher up than that too...and then make sure the cut is flat and smooth. Measure the 1" from there and make sure it's as close to 1" as possible. Make that cut flat and smooth too. This probably doesn't make sense before purchase, so purchase it and then come back here after you have read the instructions. It is a big mount. I have an 04 CBR 600 RR. Works like a charm and much better than anything else on desertcart. I tried others.
