Round-bottom flasks (also called round-bottomed flasks, Flasks, round bottom, or RB Flasks)having spherical bottoms are more resistance to fracturing under vacuum, as a sphere more evenly distributes stress across its surface. Because of the spherical bottom, cork rings are needed to keep the round bottom flasks upright,or heated by the water bath ,oil bath or sand bath.When in use, round-bottom flasks are commonly held at the neck by flask clamps on a stand.The flasks are usually used in heating or boiling a liquid, in as flasks and receiving flasks for the distillate, used as the flasks in rotary evaporators.It is usually used with other jointed lab glassware like glass condenser,separatory funnels,cow receivers.The round bottom flask has larger heating surface than the flat bottom flask and can be heated evenly.It is usually used in the laboratory operation requiring high temperature and long time heating,or vacuum . Review: This is a heavy duty flask - Very nice flask. The 1000ml is 50gm heavier than the other ones I have purchased. The flask walls feel noticeably thicker. Like another poster mentioned, it is slightly smaller in diameter, about .75 cm less. A much better choice for distillation of liquids that are known to have violent bumping.
Review: great glass, BRUTAL shipping - it came exactly 1.5 months after ordering, which was the limit date before I could ask for a refund. The glassblowing is excellent, comparable to VWR pieces I've bought in the past for 4x the price. Shipping is the only problem. How does it take 34 days from the Chinese border to the Canadian border is unbelievable considering shipping isn't free. they should really get a better shipping company. glass is great but I won't be ordering again, this is just way too slow
