Had these 3 months now, i fly twice a week so they’ve seen use. They are great. I do wish the rubber was a more snug fit on then (not that bad to begin with but tighter would be nice). They are sturdy, easy to use and obviously they work with TSA since they have on through it 4 times now but overall great lock for the pelican air case i keep my tools in while flying.

I had never traveled with a firearm before, but these locks looked like they would fit the bill. I am impressed with the lock itself, but there were a couple features I did not like. The less important one was the relief/contrast of the numbers on the lock dials. The contrast is not great and with the bright lighting at airports it made it difficult to read the dials without someone blocking the light to shade the lock. Secondly, these locks can be unlocked wiht a TSA key. I learned that you DO NOT need a lock that the TSA can unlock to travel with your firearm. A regular padlock will work, and quite honestly the TSA key accessibility is the main reason I would not suggest these locks. TSA keys have been stolen before, and quite honestly I am sure that there are people at the airports that have them that shouldn’t. That means anyone that has them can access your firearms outside of your presence. I would advise against using only these locks on your firearm case. Since I already purchased them I used two of them on my case and two padlocks knowing that even if someone had the TSA keys they couldn’t access the case because I had two padlocks on the case too. Ultimately these locks are good. I really like the single shaft, but had I known the TSA didn’t require locks to be able to be opened by them I would not have purchased these locks. I will keep them because I can use them to supplement the higher security padlocks I purchased, but I would not rely on them as the only locks on a gun case when traveling with a firearm.

I love these locks because they are easy to use and they have a release button so there is a little extra protection or you could do it as a one step to unlock if you keep the numbers on the code.

Overall it's a pretty good lock. This style of lock (with the lock body gripping a minimum length headed bolt) is the most mechanically robust style, so I believe that criminals would have a difficult time trying to break or cut the lock off of the case (which is why I am pleased with my purchase). Combination locks are generally fairly easily decodable, but also TSA approved locks are generally stupidly easy to pick, and this lock is no exception. Simply put a piece of sheet metal in the keyway that fits, apply a light preload torque, and lift up. It's that easy, and it requires no skill or practice. With this specific keyway, it is a bit small, so some lock picks will not fit, but still... Any criminal that knows ANYTHING about lock picking or decoding will bypass this thing in one or two seconds. Please only use this if you are required to use the TSA's stupid non-locks that look like a lock, and please take them off and replace them with REAL locks as soon as you are legally permitted to.
