Sony Blu-ray Disc player

After buying a new Sony tv i decided that that the Sony dvd player that we have had for several years needed upgrading, having looked at many it became clear that a Blu Ray player could be had for the same price as a dvd player, so not wanting 4K ability and having the new Sony tv i bought this little box and i am extremely happy that i picked it, it is very small and discreet but it packs a lot in, apart from the obvious disc player it also has a whole host of app's that make it very smart First trying it out with a dvd of Lord Of The Rings i was very impressed by the quality and sharpness of the picture, audio playing through my Orbitsound T12 was even more impressive with the rumbles and explosions of the battle scenes right there in the room but with the rest of the soundstage clearly audible as well the first Blu Ray played was the BFG, as would be expected the picture quality is superb on the 1080p tv and again the sound simply blows you away, the little box is very quick to respond to the remote, something that i had not appreciated with the previous dvd player as i now realise how slow that had been, the remote itself is also quite small but it is perfectly sized and shaped to make it easy to use there are many app's on this player including Amazon video and Netflix, which has it's own dedicated quick launch button and the other app's can be sorted into favourites etc i am extremely happy with this Blu Ray player and considering it cost no more than many dvd players i think it is an absolute bargain and i recommend it for any one who like me has no desire to get into 4K just yet but would like to get the most out their dvd and Blu ray discs.

It is for use with my Sony TV, which does not have a blue ray player built in. Does what I bought it for and it is simple to use. Great product. Well, it IS a Sony!

I think it needs a better remote control

The player was really easy to integrate with the rest of my existing set up. Just followed the set up instructions. Its compact and unobstusive size is a bonus and does not detract from its performance.

As a Blu-Ray/DVD player, it's fantastic. It works on all my Blu-Rays and DVDs, and the remote gives you seamless control. The menus are easy to navigate for setting things up. For being one of the cheaper models, it's worth more than the price for a reliable disc player. The only issue I have is the apps. I was able to use YouTube a couple of times, but most often, when I select a video, I get a black screen for an indefinite amount of time, and pressing any button brings up a menu with blank spaces for where other videos are. It's a shame because YouTube links with my phone easily, and I can even select videos to display on the TV without hassle, but good luck getting playback. At the very least there should be a loading bar or some status message telling you what's taking so long.
