Well made, alot of features looks great
I purchased the Garmin Instinct 2X Solar Tactical Edition in Coyote Tan as a gift for my husband. After spending time setting it up and exploring its features, I can honestly say this is one of the most impressive GPS smartwatches I have ever handled. The first thing that stands out is the build quality. This is not a fashion smartwatch designed to look pretty in an office. The Instinct 2X Tactical feels like a serious piece of equipment. The rugged polymer case, raised bezel, textured buttons, and military-inspired Coyote Tan color immediately communicate that this watch was designed for people who work, train, hunt, hike, camp, ride, or spend significant time outdoors. It feels extremely durable without being excessively heavy. The display is easy to read in bright sunlight, which is exactly where many smartwatches struggle. Garmin's Power Glass solar charging lens helps extend battery life significantly, and for people who spend a lot of time outdoors, solar charging becomes a genuinely useful feature rather than a gimmick. Garmin states that the watch can achieve extremely long battery life with sufficient solar exposure, and even without relying heavily on solar charging, the battery life is measured in weeks rather than days. That alone separates it from many competing smartwatches. One feature I did not expect to appreciate as much as I do is the built-in flashlight. It sounds simple, but having an LED flashlight available instantly from your wrist is incredibly useful. Whether you're looking for something in a dark room, checking on a pet at night, navigating a campsite, or simply finding your keys, it becomes one of those features you end up using far more than expected. The flashlight offers multiple brightness levels as well as red-light capability for preserving night vision.GPS performance appears excellent, and the watch supports multiple satellite systems along with multi-band GPS technology for improved accuracy in challenging environments. For hiking, trail running, hunting, overlanding, or adventure travel, having reliable navigation and tracking is a major advantage. The Tactical Edition adds features that military personnel, law enforcement, hunters, and preparedness-minded users will appreciate. These include night vision compatibility, stealth mode, kill switch functionality, jumpmaster features, and access to Applied Ballistics support for long-range calculations. I didn't set this up since it requires you enter the specs of your units, and it does require a one-time set up fee. While many users may never need these functions, it is impressive that Garmin includes them in a consumer wearable.Health and fitness tracking are also extensive. The watch monitors heart rate, sleep, stress, activity levels, recovery, and numerous sports profiles. Unlike many smartwatches that focus heavily on notifications and apps, Garmin's emphasis remains on performance, training, and outdoor capability. It feels more like a serious fitness and navigation instrument than a miniature phone strapped to your wrist. The only potential downside is size. The 50mm case is substantial, and individuals with smaller wrists may find it larger than they prefer. For my husband, however, the size works perfectly and actually enhances readability and battery performance.Overall, the Garmin Instinct 2X Solar Tactical Edition strikes an outstanding balance between rugged durability, advanced navigation, tactical functionality, health monitoring, and exceptional battery life. It feels purpose-built for people who spend time outdoors and need equipment they can depend on. If you're looking for a watch that can handle hiking trails, motorcycle trips, camping weekends, travel, workouts, emergency preparedness, and everyday life without constantly searching for a charger, this Garmin deserves serious consideration. It synched well with iPhone.Highly recommended.

Best watch for military
I am currently in the Middle East. And if you are watching the news you know what that means. After a building was hit by two TBM, and power was cut. I was able to not only use the watch to render care by the time, and heart rate on it. Was able to help people box breathe, check BPM, and HR. The light work performed very well helping guild people out of the building and help me make a light thought smoke. This watch made my job as a corpsman 10x easier. Battery life is amazing. If you work outside this watch will basically charge itself. The running mode is amazing and pretty accurate as well.

Comfort, function and style
This watch hasn't left my wrist. It's everything I expected and more. Admittedly, it's overkill for a non military or non extreme adventurer like me. There are far more features than I imagined and initially that was overwhelming. However, one of the features I've come to live about the watch allows you to have a 'lighter' experience with fewer displays. This has proven to be the right sial for me. Additionally, by reducing the volume of displays, the watch has this far averaged around 100 days between charges. For a smart watch, that's quite impressive. It's no Apple or as Samsung watch and it's monochromatic (which is what I like) so if colour displays are key for you, this way h doesn't suit your needs. However, if you want a smart watch which leans tactical (even has a nifty flashlight feature), this is one to consider.I love my watch and I would buy it again if I needed to.Hope this review helps.Cheers,DG

Durable, Feature-rich Smartwatch
I couldn’t be happier with my Garmin Instinct 2 Solar Tactical watch. I does everything I want and more. The exercise tracking, sleep metrics and body battery reporting provide me such great information about my health & fitness journey. As a CrossFitter for over 10 years, this is the first wearable that includes HIT clocks so I can choose from AMRAP, EMOM, Tabata or custom timers. I’m also very comfortable with wearing the watch during all activities due to its durability. I also love how all of my activity syncs with my iPhone though the Garmin Connect App and migrates into the Apple Health & Fitness App. It allows me to see all the data in different ways as well as track my goals and share my accomplishments with my peer group for accountability and support. As an outdoorsman, I love the navigation features, the tides app and the map features. Being outside in the dark, I have fiend the LED flashlight to be very useful. So far, the battery life has been incredible. The solar charging really extends the time between hooking up the charger. There is still so much this watch does that I haven’t even explored. Then, considering all the additional apps/features that can be added through the GarminIQ App, it seems the possibilities are endless. Lastly, receiving notifications from my phone make the device even more valuable as I never miss a text, call or reminder. I’d highly recommend the watch and the seller to anyone looking to get more from their wearable.

a good tough do it all outdoor watch
I received my Garmin quickly and was impressed by the quality of the watch. I got it mainly for sports tracking and heart monitor use. The heart monitor is ok but it liked the one on galaxy better. It does the job when you get used to it but its a little flaky at first to get used to. I got the tactical model because of the price and it seems to be worth the price even though i wont use most of the tactical features for ammo etc. I wondered about the rubber strap but its better than a stiffer plastic one because of contact with your wrist for the heart monitor and other functions. It was a little harder for me to set and I did manage to lock it up once which was frustrating to say the least, But I stuck with it and once your past the learning curve things get better. the instructions are not that good but thank God for Google which makes things much easier. If the Garmin had not been for sale and I bought it I would probably have sent it back due to my frustration level trying to set it up. One thing you'll like is the battery endurance level this thing has. Its chargeable through the included charging cable plus its solar chargeable which is one of the better systems out there. Its big (50mm) which seems huge until you notice it weighs nothing at all! and then you don't feel it at all. For those military men or pretend military men its a great piece of gear that should last many seasons of out door activity. Aside from its draw backs which won't bother many I think if you can find it on sale then get one because of its phenomenal battery life then youll grow to appreciate its many functions and features.

Amazing watch
I replaced my Fenix 3 with this watch after much research. What an amazing watch. The flashlight has surprisingly come in handy numerous times. The menus are easy to navigate with a little practice. The health and fitness tracking work great. My sleep is worse than I thought. The compass works amazing. Have used it to navigate a number of bearings. No lag time or need to walk to get a real time bearing, and it's accurate. I only keep my compass on me now as a back up. The notifications work great. Very comfortable band. The battery life is wild. 30-40 days when not actively using satellite navigation. I killed the battery in the bush once when I left it on that mode. I didn't have the cord for it. I charged it in the sun enough to have function for the rest of the trip.

This watch is GREAT
The watch face is large and easy to read in any light. The watch is quite light for it's size and is very comfortable all day and through the night. The sleep tracker is quite helpful and seems to be very accurate with matching to how I feel when waking up.By far the most useful feature on this watch is the flashlight. I cannot count how many times in the last week I've used it, let alone how many times total. It casts a very easy on the eyes light with a strong center and gentle flood that makes navigating in the dark very easy without shocking your eyes.I also love the GPS info as we used it to mark and navigate back to our parking location at the Cold Lake Airshow this past weekend. The compass is excellent for a quick verification of direction and I really enjoyed playing with the barometer during our road trip through the Rocky Mountains. For charging, I may charge it once a month (I've owned it for 5 months now) if it needs it. Occasionally I can get it to read as infinite battery life, but even staying in direct sunlight for 5-6 hours a day it doesn't seem to quite keep up to daily use, but it will comfortably exceed an entire month on a single charge.Overall, this is a great watch and it'll even tell you the time!
