Bright Tone and Great Feel Right Out of the Pack
These DR electric guitar strings sound great right out of the pack. They have a bright, clear tone without being harsh, and the feel is smooth and comfortable under the fingers. Bends are easy, and tuning stability has been solid after the initial stretch. I’ve used them for both practice and longer playing sessions, and they hold their tone well without feeling stiff or rough. Installation was straightforward, and they feel consistent string to string. Overall, these are excellent strings for players who want good tone, reliable feel, and solid durability. I’ll definitely keep these in my regular rotation.

Still as good as ever
I swear by DR strings and these strings will last longer tone wise than most other strings ive tried. They tend to wear off the coating where the playing is roughest but the tone remains and the strings are there to sound good not win a beauty contest.

The black is a coating that will wear out in time.
These strings are a size thicker than the ones I had on my guitar and with the blonde fretboard on my guitar, these look great. My ONLY issue is with the longevity of the black coating. It is already coming off of the D & E strings without much use. But these are good strings that didn't stretch much after installation and they stay tuned once you tune it, play it and tune it again.

My new Go-To..
I've been playing with flatwound strings for over twenty years. On a whim I chose to try Black Beauties. I usually play 7-string guitar but I do have one 6-string Hofner with custom pickups that I consider my secret weapon. I first purchased a pack for the six-string. I was very pleasantly surprised. They weren't as smooth as what I've gotten used to, but the are smooth enough. "String-Noise" is negligible and everything about them is perfectly balanced. The tone is perfect, not too harsh, not too dull. The most impressive thing I've found is that the tone itself across all six strings is just right. Other brands, the bass strings can be too bassy, and the trebles can be too shrill. I next purchased a pack for my Carvin seven-string. I'm sticking with Black Beauties on all my guitars. I really, really like them. P.S. My original review was written March 7. This update is on the 12th. I just read a bunch of other reviews on these strings and I just don't understand. People are saying that the coating is coming off and the strings are breaking, and I just don't get it because I've not had any problems at all. I am very rough on strings. I pull on them, tug on them, and basically kick the crap out of them because if you don't do that, they constantly go out of tune. My picking style may not be as aggressive, but I torture my strings and make sure they hold up. Once again, in my experience, these strings are very good. They've been on my Carvin just a little less than a month, and they've been on my Hofner for just a little over. I do play everyday, but each guitar goes through about a week of action before I switch off again. I personally have not had any problems.

Strings sound good but the coating is not durable
I have never used coated strings before but thought I would give them a whirl. I have used DR blues strings and they are great. I like that DR are made in US and are overall good quality merch. I was disappointed in these simply because the coating is already starting to come off and I have literally only had them on a day. With the shiny metal underneath becoming exposed it really shows in contrast to the black. When putting them on the guitar I noticed some of the coating stripped when I was using pliers to crimp the ends but figured it was just the abrasive metal causing the issue. I've played on these maybe two hours so far and already the coating is stripping in the area between pickups where I strum the most. The sound is good and the coating makes sliding less frictiony, but the durability of the coating does not appear to be long lasting. I'm going to keep them on there for now as they sound fine but I will probably not use coated strings again after this.

Dead, dull, and uninspiring.
I figured I'd take a chance with these. I thought it kind of hilarious to put these on a black guitar. I guess I should have known that a product so based on appearance would be lacking in the performance realm. I was very pleased with the DR DDT's that I put on another guitar, so I was very surprised at the poor quality of these strings. My guitar was set up for 10's prior to stringing with this particular set. I knew while stringing these that something wasn't right. Strings had a muffled sound, completely lacking any brightness. Even fresh these strings sounded like they had been soaked in water for weeks. I will not be purchasing these again. I've been happy with regular DR's, but these strings are a waste of time if you want strings with any brightness. I suppose the "extra-life" coating will allow for an extended consistency of sound, but, you're starting with a very dull sound similar to strings that have been used more than a cheap hooker. I do have to entertain the possibility that I had a bad pack. That said, I'm going to stay away from these.

Nice Looking Strings
I just put these on a Les Paul I have. First of all the strings look great although I am sure after time they will fade or the coating will come off. The looks are a bonus. They sound great. I played some old school rock for about an hour and I must say that they have a good sound to them. i was worried that the coating would take away some of the vibration on the strings on the longer notes but it doesnt. Thay sound good and I would say that they are well worth the money.

Fantastic to play - buy one string lost its coating really quickly ...
Casual player, bought these to spice up by black guitar. they look great, and play great and feel really good on my fingers. The 'g' string, though, lost its coating around the playing position after only a few days - and although it still plays fine, it looks a little scruffy. Give them their due - I contacted DR strings, and they offered to replace it - great customer service indeed. (I declined the offer - honestly it's fine to play, and mailing from USA to AUS will probably cost more than the cost of the string!) Will certainly buy again!
