Expand your footprint to the outdoors.
I needed an AP for some wireless cameras and wifi locks located several places about the property. The previous AP handled the job for a while but conditions had to be perfect. I ran new cable, plugged in the POE injector and had the AP set up in just a few minutes using a web browser. I have several different SSIDs in order for the older as well as newer stuff to connect. (It's easier to add a SSID than to go into those old cameras or locks and pair them with a new AP.) This AP does all that very well and as an added bonus outside, I have access to good WIFI within about two hundred yards of the AP and passable WIFI even further out. It doesn't seem to matter when 3 or 4 phones are connected, speed is unaffected, but we're not likely to have more than that going at once. The TP-Link strength is that it handles all the strange mixture of WIFI traffic without a glitch!

Powerful outdoor unit but
I wrote another review on the X50 outdoor and instead of writing it again I copied and pasted my findings here with this one and the X50 outdoor and the 225 outdoor. Saving the reading...go with the X50 outdoor! It's actually more powerful in my opinion. I have used and tested three different TP-Link outdoor units, the EAP 225 outdoor, EAP 650 Outdoor, and finally this unit the X50 Outdoor. I mounted it approximately 8 feet off the ground. The mount for the 650 will work with the X50 or vice versus. The first two are made for business use and take a little more steps to setup and do not work seamlessly with existing mesh like the XE70 Pro's I am using. First and foremost, clear line of sight is very important. Don't expect any of these to go through a metal shed wall or a thick cover of trees. No wifi will. However, with a medium tree area that you can still see the hotspot from it will work pretty good! I used the 225 for over a year and it would achieve around 150-200 mbps download out to around 100-150 yards. The 650 was another story and I used it for about 6 months now and it will give you around 200-300mbps out 250 yards and even got 50 mbps downloads out at 400 yards. These are plenty for say a wifi camera like Reolink or yes even a battery powered Ring that I tested for several months at 250 yards while only getting around 40 mbps downloads due to shurbs and limbs partially in the way. I decided to pull the trigger on the X50 outdoor as I heard it was about the same strength as the 650 outdoor according to Tplink. There isn't much info out there comparing the two. I understand the 650 has 4 antennas and the X50 only two which made me hesitate but I really wanted a seamless mesh system inside and out so I bought an X50...lets just say I was shocked. I can easily get 300 mbps out at 300 yards and even got a mere 10 mbps at 600 yards which was through a thicket of trees but I could see the hotspot barely. Once again, line of sight is important so don't mount a camera or stand inline with a bunch of trees/tree trunks and expect to get great signal. I did get 100-150 out at 400 yards through some light tree branches though. If mounting a camera, I found the camera better have a good antenna on it because while the S24 Ultra can get great signal at say 400 yards, the new battery power Wyze V3 cannot. I haven't tested the other cameras at that distance but I'm willing to bet the old Reolink Go Plus with external antenna probably will be fine. So if considering any of the three outdoor units above...don't hesitate on the X50 outdoor! Great price at $119. I do have all my units hardwired and is the only way to go in my opinion. I tried using the 225 and 650 to send wifi signals to the other where one was wired and the other about 100 yards away and the drop in download speeds were very poor. I was hoping to boost the signal even farther across property but the signal loss to the hotspot 100 yards away was so bad it was useless to use and I acheived much better speeds from the wired one. You can assign devices to each unit or allow them to roam. If its a static device like a camera/TV/laptop that is not wired then I will assign it to the unit it's closest too or gets the best signal from. Most of the time the TPlink software does a pretty good job itself though. Hope this helps as there wasn't much info on comparisons between these units.

Good device, but incomplete returned item
The unit itself is fine. Strong signal, clear instructions, etc. However, I was clearly sent a returned item. Several pieces of the waterproofing kit were missing, and the unit had a non-default admin password (i.e., someone had already set it up), requiring a hard reset. I don't mind gently returned items, it keeps things out of the landfills, but they should either be fully checked to ensure they include ALL accessories, or they should be priced commiserate with their used condition. As an FYI for anyone setting up a roaming mesh for your home or business: the Omada software is freely available for docker and works beautifully to configure and coordinate multiple Omada-compatible devices like the 650 and 610 series APs.

Great outdoor addition
Perfect addition for my existing Omada controlled network. I have a large area to cover and this easily reaches upper hill where my chickens are. Sleek design and white color allows it to blend in to my existing outdoor area. Easy adoption using Omada controller

Robust, great coverage indoors and out.
My home sets on a half acre and I can get wi-fi anywhere now. I now get full bars in my workshop out back. The installation was a little tricky, which can be attributed to my skill set. But I went to the company's website and the customer service was excellent. This unit is built for the outdoors- very sturdy and has a direct grounding connect. We got a very close lightning strike about two weeks after install. Just had to reboot the system and all is well. I researched these outdoor boosters around the web and I don't think you'll find better value for the money.

Junk do not waste you money
I have spent a large amount of money on TP Link products and they are consistently terrible This is the most useless of the group I have a ring camera on a building that is 125’ direct line of sight to this and there is zero connection This garbage is hardwired into my BE10000 deco who’s is hard wired from my business fiber and I have never had such unreliable spotty wifi ever it looks like all this TP crap is a hard expensive lesson as it will all end up in the trash as I waited too long to install it. TP Linik is import get ahold of to speak to an English speaker Go with literally any other brand

Great Product
Set up was a little confusing reading the directions. But after installing the app and following step-by-step, it was easy to figure out. The AX 3000 EPA 650 outdoor once installed works amazing. My outdoor Wi-Fi went from 25 MB to over 700 MB. After it was all connected. Make sure to do your research to see if this will work for you. It is a good product and provides great wifi signal where needed. I noticed that any trees or other obstructions very quickly reduce the signal. So make sure you place it in an area that will offer the best coverage.
