The 5.5x2.1mm DC input is directly connected to the ODB port battery pin. DO NOT APPLY 8-30VDC OR SHORT TO ANYTHING! Be careful. The cable is a bit stiff, cumbersome, and a little short. However, the recovered waveforms from the data bus are quite clean and free of ringing observed on longer more flexible offerings. The connectors and breakout cables are well constructed for this price point.
