Thank goodness I ignored the reviews!
After reading all the reviews saying these boots run small I was hesitant to order my usual size 9. But I've listened to the reviewers in the past and bought 1/2 size up and they're always too big.SO LONG STORY SHORT I IGNORED YOU ALL THIS TIME AND BOUGHT MY NORMAL SIZE.Guess what? Glad I did. The 9.5 would've been too big. What the heck is wrong with you all? Do you not know what size you really wear? If your toes are touching the end of this boot - you don't know what size you really wear. If you couldn't even get them on, then either you weren't smart enough to loosen the laces or you don't know what size you really wear!!!!For those of you out there who are on the fence over all the reviews I'll help you out. These are not pac boots. They aren't supposed to fit like Frankenstein shoes. They should fit snug on your feet when you first wear them. Here's a tip - they'll break in if you wear them a while! If you buy them too big they'll be sloppy after you wear them awhile. With good insulated boots that fit right you shouldn't have to wear 82 pairs of socks. Duh!I wear size 9 and I ordered size 9 in these. My feet are wide but not wide enough to be able to wear wide sized shoes. I have high arches. So fitting my feet with boots can be a challenge. The biggest challenge is making sure the top of the shoe/boot slopes up high enough so that my arch is not cramped. In other words the part of the boot where the laces begin cannot be long and flat or it hits the top of my foot and causes pain. These boots are just a slight bit low at the area of your foot where your arch begins to rise. So if you have high arches you might have a fit problem with these. I have high arches and these boots did skim the top of my left foot but after breaking them in with thin socks they fit great. Another reviewer said she put soup cans in hers overnight and stretched that small area across the top and they were fine.If your feet are cold in these boots then you have a circulation problem. Try pac boots like Sorel. If you have normal arches and normal width feet and know what size you really wear then I suggest you order your normal size in these and break them in with some thin socks. If you want sloppy Frankenstein snow boots that are hard to walk in then order them bigger. These boots are 100% waterproof and super warm. They fit great and are easy to walk in. Snow boots are notoriously clunky but these aren't bad. I love mine!

Love em'!
These are some really nice looking and well made boots. After reading many, many reviews I ordered a half size up and they are perfect. They work with my regular socks, my really thick socks, and both together for those really cold days. And they are WARM! As a vegan, I am thrilled to find a good quality boot that does not use leather. My only small complaint is that they are extremely STIFF and they rub the backs of my legs. Kind of like walking around with boards strapped to your feet. I spoke with a Columbia representative who recommended some of their socks, but they didn't look like they would be high enough to go past the boot. I found a great pair of thick knee high socks at Target for $4 and they will work well. It will just take some time, as the Columbia rep said, for them to break in so now that I have the high socks I am going to wear them all the time to soften them up. I read in the reviews of people having Columbia boots for up to 12 years or so before they wore out, so I'm perfectly willing to invest a little time to get them softened up. I highly recommend them. You can't beat the price for the quality. I saved so much over what I was prepared to spend that I treated myself to overnight delivery because it was really cold here. But if you're thinking about these boots, definitely order a half size up.

Very comfortable and well made.
Fit perfectly (with medium-thick socks). I usually wear size 6 1/2 or 7 shoes and ordered size 8 in these boots (based on advice of other reviewers, plus the fact that I would be wearing thick socks). They fit perfectly. The first time I wore them, I walked a two-mile round trip to my mailbox and they were very comfortable and warm. Afterward, I bought some micro-spikes to attach to them to give me sure footing in icy conditions. These boots are great for soft snow, but can't be expected to be "non-slip" on ice. I've done many walks to the mailbox since the first walk, using the micro-spikes attached to the boots, and am very warm and comfortable and have a lot of confidence that I won't slip. They are very well-made and sturdy. They go on easily and also are easy to remove. I'm very pleased with my boots and would recommend them.

Solid boot
I had to replace my 15 year old Columbia boots. This boot is warm as described and I only need one pair of socks on. With my special thick winter socks, my left foot was a bit cramped (but I have issues with that foot anyway), but I think once the boots are broken in, it will be fine. With more regular weight crew socks they were fine, no cramping. They are a bit stiff in the back, like a ski boot, but I was easily able to drive in them.I agree with other reviews- order one half size larger. I wear an 8 and I ordered 8.5 and they work with both the very thick socks and regular weight socks. I find them easy to get on and off and quick and easy to tie, since I don't have to loosen up the laces much to get the boots on and off.We have about 20 inches of snow on the ground in Southeastern PA, so a knee-high pair of boots would have been better, but the height of these will work well for our more usual snowfalls of 4-6 inches. This is an unusual year in PA; we don't normally have snowfalls this great!I got the black shale color since that's all that was left in my size, so they're not particularly "pretty", but they will do the job for years to come.
