While taking my smart TV apart for repair accidentally boke a tiny little cap. I'm an Electrical Engineer who repairs research equipment so used 1 nF tiny little cap from this set to replace. Was difficult but this set had several of that size to use as I figured out how to replace.

This 3040-piece SMD Capacitor Combo Kit offers an impressive range of values across four standard footprints (0402, 0603, 0805, and 1206), but the actual organization and legibility leave much to be desired. Quantity and Value Variety The sheer number of components you get for the price is the main selling point here. With 111 different types ranging from 1pF to 22uF, it covers almost every standard decoupling or filtering need for microcontrollers like the ESP32 or Jetson Orin Nano. Having multiple sizes for the same value is particularly useful when you're prototyping on boards with different space constraints. The "Sample Book" Misnomer My biggest issue with this kit is the presentation. Despite being called a "sample book," it doesn't arrive in an organized binder or book format. Instead, you get loose strips that are not held in any form of structured fashion. Legibility Issues: The markings on the strips are incredibly difficult to read. The font is small and lacks contrast, making it a struggle to discern which strip is which without a magnifying glass or a digital microscope. Lack of Identification: There are no clear labels or high-contrast headers to help you quickly identify values. I would strongly recommend the manufacturer use a bold black font or distinct labels on each strip. As it stands, you spend more time hunting for the right value than you do actually soldering. Build Quality & Solderability On the positive side, the components themselves are of decent quality. I’ve used several values from this kit on SMD practice boards and carrier prototypes, and they handle the heat from a hot air rework station well. The pads are clean and take solder easily, which is exactly what you need when you're working with tiny 0402 or 0603 footprints. Final Verdict This is a "quantity over quality" kit in terms of organization. If you are willing to spend the time to manually label and organize these strips into your own storage system, the value is there. However, if you are looking for a true "grab and go" sample book for a fast-paced professional environment, the poor legibility and lack of structure make this a frustrating addition to the bench. It’s a solid collection of parts, but the "user interface" of the kit definitely leaves some to be had.

BEWARE. Working voltage is not stated on three out of four packages. Physical size is not a reliable indicator of working voltage. Capacitance values are marked on the strips, they can also be measured. Why are the working voltages not marked? Without working voltages these capacitors are pretty much useless unless you are a gambler. If the second and third numbers from the daily lottery are odd or even then there is a good chance these capacitors are capacitors, see where I'm going here? I am sure the capacitors are made with the best of intentions and the utmost of care but omission of a critical property is careless at best and misleading at worst. If the volts rating fell off the strips there should be a pile of them laying in the bottom of the bags but I took a real good look and nope, no pile of volts laying in the bottom of the bags. I see the claim in the description of 50 volts. Would someone please point to the 0402 with a working voltage of 50 volts. I suspect I know where these came from, the reels were discarded because the labels fell off over a humid new years holiday and QA would not accept the product at incoming. One mans trash is another mans treasure. Here is a hint: if you are going to be in business you must be in business all the way. The marketplace can be a cruel teacher. Now maybe I am all wrong, humor me here, the 0603 package has voltage ratings on the affixed label. The other three packages do not have voltage ratings. Maybe I really only paid for the one bag with the ratings and the other three packages were supplied at no charge. Let me check. Nope, I was charged for all four packages. That makes that one package expensive because I can't count on the others to be reliable in use. I'm afraid to use these and terrified to return them in case they may be returned to inventory. I will do all mankind a favor and dispose of them at my expense. One star because no stars is not a possible choice. PS: I will happily review any product sent my way, I'm not hiding, you know where to find me.

After a little research I finally found the capacitors my board needed, little tricky to solder to board but at the end it worked out.

Having these has saved me from poking around donor boards for capacitors. I like that this set has multiple sizes as well as values. A great option for repair techs that see many types of devices. The values are stamped on the tapes, so it's easy to find the one you're after.
