I like it
I bought a Samsung brand new and it didn't work so I thought I'd try something different and I love this phone it is much faster than my Samsung it's a second line and I use it to run my Eld in my truck set up was a breeze I'm on the Pure Talk Network I installed the SIM the phone recognized the Sim and set the phone up for me I did not have to call customer service at Pure Talk to have them activate the phone or the SIM it just worked imagine that I charge the phone up fully i use the phone to run the eld in my truck it connected to my truck perfectly when the ELD is connected the screen never turns off ever at the end of my day I still had 40% battery life left and that was on the first charge my Samsung never lasted that long and I know when the ELD is connected to the phone the charger is supposed to be connected to the phone but I wanted to see how long the battery would last I like the fact that the back cover comes off and you can change the battery because having a charger constantly connected to the phone is very hard on the battery on my last phone the battery swelled up and pushed the front screen out of its frame so being able to change the battery is a plus for me I bought a nice protective case for it and a screen protector and hopefully it'll last a while we'll see.

Initial use and features provided a great experience for a cell phone in this price range!
Pro Banking apps - noticeably improved user experience with Android 13 2-step authentication by text has a great feature new to me: When you go to message app to retrieve the code, it offers a "copy feature" automatically. Click on it then go back to the banking app and presto, the code has been entered!! Nano SIM card recognized the carrier info quickly (T-mobile) Transfer of information from old ZTE Android 10 phone went well! (Luckily, I had a C to C cable for the data transfer). Cons: notification dot doesn't work well The charger plugged into a wall outlet did heat up a little more than my previous cell phone as well as the back of the phone in it's new case (Ailiber brand) while laying flat on a solid surface. I used the new case to elevate it which took care of the phone backside heating up. Conclusion: Initial use and features provided a great experience for a phone in this price range!

This is a T430M according to the specs right on the phone itself.
I haven't had this phone long but I really like it so far. One problem is, where you open the phone to put in the sim and battery, it is a so very small indent I don't know how anyone could open it with their fingers. I had to use a tiny flat screwdriver to open and mangled the area in the process. Other than that I like it. I use it with Tello provider and I hope I find that to be acceptable if not great. I got their unlimited everything (talk, text, data) plan for $29/mth. The small print says though, once you reach 25GB it slows down. I highly doubt I will reach 25GB so hope it will be great for my needs. In looking for additional long braided cords I could not find any that were specifically for TCL ion V. Come to find out the phone itself says its a "T430M". Why didn't they just call it that instead of labeling it TCL ion V? I ended up ordering a "C" type to A type 6 ft cord which works fine but it wasn't designated specifically for TCL ion V. The colors are really vibrant on this phone. Noticeably different than any other phone I've had. Hope I continue to like it. If i find something objectionable, I'll come back and write an updated review. It's now May 2026 and a few months ago the phone started only charging to 82/83%. It i s not even one year old. Bad!!!!

Be Aware: Not Compatible with Verizon or Sub-Brands!
There is a decent amount of misleading information for this phone listing. The phone is listed as $149 but the manufacturer website lists it as $99 new. The listing also describes the phone as compatible with networks that it is not. I checked the phone with Verizon, USMobile, Visible and other Verizon sub-brands and the phone is not compatible. I verified that this phone will work with T-Mobile, AT&T and their sub-brands. I think this phone is a solid choice for those needing a basic, no frills GSM compatible phone, but I would recommend not purchasing from this listing if possible due to the false information. Quick Notes: - Phone is all plastic body and feels very cheap but sturdy which is understandable for the price. - Battery will last a day with light/moderate usage. - The speed of the phone is adequate for basic tasks and usage but gaming will be very hit or miss. - Camera is decent in indoor/well lit shooting.

Can't recommend it highly enough.
It's not an iPhone - which is just fine with me. It's a basic Android phone, but TRULY it's one of the better ones - at a great price. Apps all run snappy - not much bloatware upon arrival, nice bright display, 50mp camera takes great pics, and a very pleasant surprise - a built in app carried ALL my data and programs from my ancient Samsung phone without a cable. I noticed some reviews saying that the speakerphone was quiet. I guess if you're working in a noisy warehouse... but for me, the volume is great. This is the first time I've taken a chance and bought a phone that wasn't a Samsung or a Motorola. I am very pleasantly surprised, and I think you will be too. Go for it! Nice job, TCL. You have a new fan.

Cheap phone but it works
I had problems with my flip 4 and my carrier refused to fix it so I sent it to Amazon for 121.00 gift certificate. I bought this phone cause it was priced right and it works for what I need it to. So what it is slower than the flip, so what it doesn't do everything the flip does, it works...the flip flopped after 6 months.

Impressive bang-for-buck
My wife and I have two other new phones, including an iPhone 14. The TCL ION is our back-up phone used primarily for texting, light surfing, and Bluetooth audio during long walks. For minimal cost and use with cheap Tello service, this phone has been a champ for the past month. I play Spotify, and even with budget portable headphones (Sound Blaster Jam), the Bluetooth 5.0 audio quality is superb. I also appreciate the smaller overall dimensions and replaceable battery. My only criticism is that the back side of the phone can be hard to remove to install the SIM; expect significant cursing along the way! Beyond that, excellent value as a new Android 13 device for those with a tight budget and reasonable expectations. UPDATE AFTER 6 MONTHS OF ALMOST DAILY USE: solid performance, no problems, no regrets. I especially like the slightly smaller (6") screen and the audio quality streaming Spotify Premium via Bluetooth.
