When I had to get a new mac I hadn't thought about the cds I had that had not yet been put on the mac for syncing to my iTouch. My old mac had a built in drive. This drive has enabled me to put my as yet transferred cds onto the mac, easily. The included separate cable didn't fit the ports. I was afraid it wasn't going to work for me. When I turned it over I saw that there was what looked like a stand snapped into the back. When I pulled it out I realized it was another built in cable with two options. Thankfully one of them fit. Once I plugged it in and put a cd in it took off. Truly plug and play simple. Thank you, RM.

Worked OK the first time I used it, after that nothing but problems-you have to plug and unplug the USB cable several times to get the disc to turn so your computer can read it. If your lucky it might run after that for about 30 seconds and then the motor quits. Tapping or unplugging and plugging it in might get it going again. Today it died with the disc in it, thankfully it is so flimsy I was able to rip it apart to recover the disc with no effort.

I picked up a refurbished Lenovo M910 "Tiny" computer to use as a controller for a Laser Engraver I have but the "Tiny" doesn't have any drives other than the internal SSD drive so installing programs from a CD-ROM or DVD would require an external drive. My main computer has it built in, but that doesn't work for the "Tiny" so I checked for reasonably priced external drives here on Amazon. I found this one for a VERY decent price and was very pleasantly surprised when it performed extremely well, with great speed and didn't miss a beat when used to install the software. I also installed a program to play background audio and to view movies from DVD's as well and they worked perfectly with no glitches when I used them. This is one of the best low price External DVD drives I've had over the years and it's compact enough I can set it on top of the M910 "Tiny", connect the built in USB cable (a longer external cable is also provided) and the drive is powered from a USB 3.0 port on the computer. Well, it's plug and play. No issues with inserting a CD, press the button on the front and it plays. But when you try to eject it, the button does nothing. You either have to force eject from a Mac or unplug it and replug the device and then the eject button works again.

After reading reviews for different brands of these external cd drives I was expecting to have some sort of issue with getting it to work or charging or being slow to load to the laptop. I chose this brand because it had good reviews and it fully lives up to that. It connected with no trouble, uploaded to my laptop quickly and it comes with an extra charging cable and multiple ways to connect. I loaded a cd from disk and pictures from an SD card and both worked great. Great price and arrived quickly.
