Belkin USB Serial Port Adapter (F5U409-CU)

Belkin Usb Pda (To Serial) Adapter I tried before two of these aftermarket adapters and they did NOT work properly. This Belkin is a whole new -and nice- story, it works flawlessly and also it's a solid piece of hardware, something I know can be use over and over again for years to come. It works!!! Works like a charm and generally auto-installs without CD. However when it doesn't, watch out. Provided cd locked up on me. I finally determined that this cable was actually made by someone else and when I used their driver all was fine. I thought this was pretty crappy for as big a company as Belkin. I actually bought more of them though because it turns out to be most reliable of several I tried. btw... dont buy from Office Max, etc. They charged me over $50 for one until I found exact same unit on Amazon for $13 with free shipping. Sooo... let me do the math. Wholesale cost is prob under 5 bucks. Office Max and other big boxes mark it up TEN times nearly. Hmmm... I'm in business and If I charged that much margin I coulnt sleep at night. Thanks Amazon.

This Belkin USB Adapter works flawlessly as opposed to a Keyspan USB adapter, which I also own that failed repeatedly to work. I use the Belkin USB Adapter with a MacBook Pro inside VMware Fusion 2 and Windows XP. I like the red and blue LED's that go on and off confirming that the adapter is working. I've used it primarily to run ARC-1 with my Anthem Statement D2.

This is a great product if you have legacy equipment you don't want to spend a big wad on when you get a new PC

This only works with 32 bit Windows system that are old. No windows 7, no vista. This is an antique that the vendor is trying to get rid of.

This is to replace an existing one that went bad after a couple of years. It works very well and I haven't had any problems with it.

although it works ok on Windows XP I could not get it to work on Windows 7. It appears it is not compatible.

After unsuccessfully contacting Belkin, it took me a week of internet searches to find the right driver to get this to work on Windows 10. I initially tried the driver on ClearChain that was mentioned in one of the previous reviews. This did not work for me.
