Men's Matflex 7 Wrestling Shoes

Great shoes.. get one size bigger

My son love these wrestling shoes. Not only were they appealing to the eye, but they were also extremely comfortable. They held up very well throughout his wrestling season.

I bought this shoe in many colors and sizes before I found the right fit. I’m almost always a women’s 8. My feet are slightly narrow. I started with the 6.5. Tooo small. They were very tight and narrow, and my toes were slightly scrunched at the end and hitting the front of the shoe. The 7 was only slightly better. For me, the 7.5 was perfect. You want a snug fit, but not the point of discomfort. I use these for boxing and they’re very nice. The grip is good and I like the ankle support. I knocked a start off for the sizing trouble, but I would buy these again when I need shoes.

Saw these recommended for boxing and they did not disappoint. They are lightweight and have good grip. Only issue is they are a little tight, and took some time to break in. I would recommend to size up at least a half size.

Awesome wrestling shoes. I have wrestled for 20 years and these are definitely comfortable and easy to put on compared to others. They are very strong and breaking really well. I am by far in Asics wrestling shoe guy since day one and will remain.

I work as stage crew/roadie for a band. I needed lightweight, grippy, stable shoes for hot-weather gigs - something that allowed me to move fast and be mobile without straining my feet. This shoe was recommended by a friend, who said it stabilized his feet very well, and was comfy enough to wear in hot weather. As some other reviewers have noted, it does run small. I have narrow feet, and wear a Women's size 9 in most brands, 9.5 in others. I also have a bunion. I ordered a Men's 8, and while it technically did fit me, it was a bit snug, especially around my bunion, and didn't have quite the toe room I needed. I returned the 8 for an 8.5, and that works well for me. The insoles are very thin, and there's no arch support, but I knew that going in, so it's not a big deal. I may insert a lightweight arch support and/or a super-thin gel insole, but we'll see. I'll update my review and let you all know how that works out.

The sizing chart and Amazon recommended size are MILES off. I have worn Asics football boots for roughly 20 years, and for the last 10 years, have consistently worn a US10/ EU44/ UK9. I could not get my foot in these Matflex 7s. So I returned and bought a US11/ EU 45 / UK10. They are still way too small, and I have to lace with no lacing over the top of the arch to get them on. I have always been a fan of Asics because of the size of the toe box and the cut of the top of the shoe, allowing for a "thick" top of foot. These don't seem to be made for human feet at all, the shoe is so narrow top to bottom. I think a US 12.5/ EU 47/ UK 11.5 may actually fit my foot and ankle, but would be clownishly long. So unless you have a very narrow foot top to bottom, avoid. And definitely order a size up. It is, as with every pair of Asics I've ever had, a quality, well-built shoe. So it will be a while before I wear them out and buy something else with a better fit!

Was recommend ASICS by one of my coaches who also has quite wide feet and said that wrestling boots tend to fit much better and have better grip. While I had to go up to a men’s 9 when I am usually a women’s 7 (UK), they do fit me very week and they are very lightweight. Totally reccomend.

I had to come back and edit my previous review. I have had these shoes for 2 years now and am still training in these shoes. I have wrestled and simultaneously used for boxing and weightlifting (training in these 5-6 days a week). These far exceeded my expectations in quality. I will buy another pair when my current ones finally wear out. I wear a size 12 shoe and ordered a 12 but had to size up to a 13. Expect these shoes to fit tight width wise, but they do stretch out a bit.
