Salter Max Digital Bathroom Scale 250 Kg Capacity Supersize LCD Display

For years I've been wanting to get some digital scales, but hesitated as my bathroom is pretty damp and cold, so thought anything electronic wouldn't survive long in there. I spotted that these Salter scales come with "carpet feet" and was intrigued, since it sounded like I could put them in the bedroom instead - any mechanical scales I've had have been terribly inaccurate on carpet (and not that good on hard floors either!). I thought it would be great to have a legible display (these have a very tall, large font) and that backlighting would help a lot - and it does! The carpet feet are four hard plastic, hollow round feet (larger than the round rubber ones built into the scales) and their thin edges are supported by moulded-in wheel type "spokes" so the idea is that they sink into the carpet pile and make contact with the floor beneath, without pressing on the bouncy carpet pile. To attach they just press on, over the smaller rubber feet, and work well as long as the carpet's not too thick/bouncy and doesn't have too long a pile. A tiny button under the scales needed just one press to switch it to stones and pounds (I'm THAT old!) and it even reads in quarters of pounds too, so nice and accurate. The readings are pretty consistent too. You simply step onto the scales and they automatically weigh, always using a blueish white backlight for the dark grey on pale grey LCD display. The figures flash a couple of times after a two seconds or less, which shows when the display locks in a weight (it waits and varies first, to iron out any fluctuations) and it maintains the final fixed weight display for a few seconds after you get off, before automatically turning off. If you want to recalibrate it, you just put one foot on the centre of the scales, wait for the display to come on and then take your weight off it, so that it reads zero, and let it turn itself off again after a few seconds - that's it, recalibrated. The main body of the scales is a slightly green-tinted sheet of glass with slightly bevelled edges, painted from the underside in white, with a slightly-less-discreet-than-ideal black stripe across it near the edge nearest to you, with the Salter logo in the middle of that. At less than 25 GBP these were great value, and even included the required three AAA batteries. These are purely scales - no body-fat analysis or anything like that. I knew this and didn't need those facilities. One thing I learned during my research was that many of those fancier scales with extra functions use a small electric charge to do their analysis of body fat etc., passing it through the body, and that people with pacemakers (for example) need to ensure that the ones they buy are compatible with those. Probably most are (and as I say, scales-only units like this one don't do this at all anyway) but as it's something that I would never even have thought of, I thought it may help someone to know that. I've been weighing myself loads of times a day since I got these - they're so good that it has given me the motivation to actually do something about my weight at long last, and seeing how my efforts are going helps no end! Still on the first set of batteries too, two months after purchase, despite have used the scales literally hundreds of times.

Easy to use . Good looking item

These scales tick all the boxes for us: nice-looking; well built and robust; able to show stones and pounds (with quarter of a pound increments displayed); large display which stays on for a few seconds after stepping off the scales. However, the first set delivered to us was dead on arrival. We had to mess around trying different batteries, varying the location and trying various combinations of tapping and getting on and off the scales before we were satisfied that the thing was faulty. Then, a pantomime trying to get a replacement at the price we paid rather than a straight refund (we had purchased this on the last day of Black Friday). Amazon, to their credit, make the process of refunding easy and convenient. However, getting a replacement wasn't an option available on their website. I had to ring customer services and go through the hoops to speak to a human. The helpful agent arranged a replacement (which has arrived and worked instantly). But - I was not given the option of returning the defective unit via a post office. It has to be collected. One has just 2 options, it appears, Evri (ugh) or Royal Mail pickup. The latter requires an adult to be at home for the collection with a whole day time span. So, a wasted day. Why can't the return-with-replacement process work just like a refund?

Having over the years many sets of body scales and never came across a set that ticked the boxes that I felt happy with then I came across the Salter scales and I decided to buy them and what a difference they’ve made they can be setup in minutes on any floor and calibrated so easily. Wow they’re brilliant.

The reading screen is very large and so easy to see. Simple to change from kg to st and lbs. Wished I bought them sooner. I would definitely recommend these scales.

Anyone with sight problems, these scales are brilliant. I would recomend to Anyone.

I recently replaced my previous 3 decades old (plus) Salter Bathroom scales, with this model. The larger display, & standing area is a bonus. After a few weeks of daily use, I ordered the same model for a very elderly relative. As a daily morning user, I can only praise its ease of use. Why struggle to balance, & read the small display, all those problems are resolved with this model. For the small price you have a quality device, with a 15 YEAR Guarantee!. Large Display. A weight limit for real ‘take the kitchen sink’ travellers, so you can weigh your case. (Plus yourself).

Really bad product. Used it twice and then it just stopped working. Stayed on zero no matter how much weight was on it. Took the battery out for 20 minutes to reset it, no good still stuck on zero. Replaced the battery, no good still stuck on zero. I thought Salter were supposed to be a top brand.

Semble donner des mesures justes et fiables, même sur des poids élevés. De surcroît article solide avec un affichage bien lisible. Seul petit bémol : la surface noire brillante est hyper salissante, on voit toutes les poussières et les traces de pieds :o) (Mais si je les lave !)

we have been using this scale for a while now and it performs well. very accuate when compared against the readings taken by my doctor. recemmended

E' la prima bilancia con portata così elevata che trovo in questo formato che è anche estremamente elegante e bello da vedere. L'alternativa costava quasi il triplo ed era una bilancia per uso professionale, brutta e ingombrante. Funziona perfettamente, non ce nemmeno bisogno di chinarsi per accenderla o spegnerla perchè fa tutto da sola, basta salire e si accende dando il peso sul display bello visibile e si spegne alcuni secondi dopo essere scesi. Fantastica. La consiglio a tutti e sopratutto a chi pesa tanto come me.

Il est léger et pratique. Il suffit de monter dessus. Je n'ai pas constaté de grosses variations en ce qui concerne les mesures. Les chiffres sont vraiment énorme c'est top. Même fatiguée pas de doute sur l'affichage.
