RYA Diesel Engine Handbook

Given as a present to my brother-in-law who has just bought a boat. He was really pleased with it and said he had learned a lot already and it would be very useful when he had to overhaul the engine. Good clear pictures too.

good book for if you are going to take the RYA Course on Diesel Engine

My boat has twin diesel engines. Sometimes things go wrong and I simply call for help - SeaStart. I have never really bothered to understand engines and after a recent breakdown I realised how simple it would have been to have dealt with the issue myself - air in fuel! I bought this book some time ago and only recently started to read it - it's straightforward, not too technical, easy to follow and understand and even interesting. I then brought the boat's engine manual in to cross-reference with descriptions in the book and now, I reckon I have moved from being completely useless to have a good level of confidence and even able to follow my service engineer. when he tells me what needs to be done.
