These are fantastic! Now I know that some of the cheap stuff with plastic bodies sold at Walmart aren't great, but their professional models are amazing. It feels a little bit heavy, but you get used to it pretty quickly. I use sleeves to cut my hair which I do once or twice a month. I love how smooth the action is, and how easy it is to replace the blades. I also really love that you can repair the parts instead of being forced to throw it away if something happens to it.

This is exactly what you'd expect from back in your childhood days, if you're a 70's kid like me! This was the time when stuff did what it was supposed to do, and didn't break if you looked at it the wrong way. These clippers are super sturdy, and cut like they're supposed to. None of the junk that pulls hair instead of cuts it like my last Wahl clippers I got. Yes, you'll pay more, but you won't be replacing these any time soon, or maybe ever. Also, the cord is nice and long, so no having to stay right up against the outlet and trying to squeeze around the chair like the other clippers I've had.

The clipper seems to work fine, only used once so far, but the comb blades that came with it are not the right size and are not made for this model clipper. I will have to order the correct size separately. Would note that the switch flips on/off easily and isn't well indicated so it is easy to have it in the on position when you plug it in.

I wanted to wait a while before submitting a review on this. First impression was this thing is straight out of the 50s with the brown Bakelite and beefy construction, I almost expected the old cloth insulated cord. It's not light and the blades are much slower than most clippers/trimmers but I've come to absolutely love it. Everything about it is high quality and built to last and it does a very good job. I use it for everything from shaving/trimming my beard to cutting my hair and it works better than anything I've owned previously. Since it's built like a tank and replacement parts are readily available I expect it will probably last longer than I will. Very impressed and totally satisfied with this purchase after months of using it :)

I read that the attachments didn't fit... but I couldn't believe it so I ordered them anyway. What it is, the clippers come w 2 blades. Pictured in the 2nd photo, bottom left, is the larger #1 blade. It has big wide teeth- does not cut w precision- something you would use on an animal. There are no attachments for this blade. The attachments fit on the 000 blade which, compares to my old smaller clippers shown. When my husband tried to change out the blade (which was clip on instead of screw) he clipped the small blades on and the whole thing eject off and that small piece popped off.. and we couldn't see where to put it back. So I attempted to use the 1 blade (for animals) w a comb to try and get one haircut before I return it. The clippers were so heavy and bulky- it was difficult to angle them. My husband is nearly bald- and still within minutes these clippers overheated so fast I was afraid I'd burn him. RIDICULOUSLY BAD CLIPPERS. The older smaller oyster pictured (fast feed) worked much better. But when the blades dulled- we couldn't get a replacement to fit. Im thinking no more Oster for us. Because I've had much cheaper clippers that have last several years.

Absolutely they are. As long as you maintain these clipper as per Oster recommendations, and don't have them stolen or lost, etc.... you should never have to purchase another set of clippers again, or want to. If your a professional barber and for some reason a part wears out, no worries Oyster sells parts and they have for years... Blades are super easy to sharpen, and there is many youtube tutorials explaining the simple process. If your looking to trim as close to the skin as possible I suggest you purchase the blade size 00000.

I use these clippers to cut my own hair. They are quite effective and do not leave stray hairs behind even when making a quick pass on the entire length of your scalp. As other reviews have stated, the clippers are quite heavy and do get hot. I would not recommend running these for an extended period of time and THEN using them with no guard against the skin. Any barber would use another set for that use anyhow. I suspect that people that complain about the heat burning them under normal use are not properly cleaning and lubricating these clippers. The weight is expected of this class of clippers. My arms get tired when I cut my own hair because of the awkward positions I have to hold the clippers but for cutting someone elses' hair I would imagine the weight would be negligible. That being said, I would recommend these clippers for similar use if you can handle the weight as they get the job done in no time. With my old clippers (the kind commonly found in drug/retail stores), it would take 20 minutes to cut my hair having to make several passes on the same spot. With these clippers, I can cut my hair in about 5 minutes if pressed because they cut all the hair the first time.
