I've been using this for several months now, and I still love it! The options are nearly endless with this item. The item description does a great job discussing the various pre-loaded amp sims, effects, and various settings, but if you need/want additional info, head over to the Sonicake website and get more info. Or, check out some YouTube videos. There is a ton of info out there on this particular product, and they do a great job diving into the details. This was my second Sonicake product, and probably will not be my last. The build quality is solid, controls are intuitive, sounds are incredible, and value is on point.

I like it all. The only problem that i encountered is im still a practicing guitarist so i cannot really get to use the full potential of this gadget. I just know it , it is really good great sounding intuitive to use and just the right price. Go grab one if your looking for one like these. The YT reviews u see are true. This is a complete amazing guitar gadget.

Bottom line: There are several products from competing and related manufacturers that are in the comparable feature range of this unit, but none at this price range. I have several pro-level multi effects units that I use on stage including a Line 6 Helix LT, a Fractal FM3 and even and HX Effects and HX Stomp that I use on more populated pedalboards. I wanted a small unit that I could take with me in my gig bag, but I wanted one with an integrated expression pedal. To that end, I've tried the Mooer GE-150, Nux MG-300, Valeton GP200JR, the Ampero II Stomp and the Nux MG-30, and I considered the Flamma FX150 and Mooer Ge200. The first two can get good sounds, but the lack of control options and FX loops relegated them to beginner/non-serious use. The rest were capable of meeting my needs though I find the Nux a bit harsh sometimes, but the Matribox II comes in well under them in price and the Mooer doesn't even have an FX loop.

This multi-effects pedal from Sonicake is a solid entry. It’s got some nice features that other multi-effects in this price range don’t often have, most notably an external FX loop. You can fully configure where you put this external FX loop in your signal chain (within the device), and this is a pretty powerful feature. You can also use it as a USB audio interface, though I don’t often work with a DAW, so I didn’t test this function, nor did I test the MIDI interface. I mostly just like to use multi-effects right on my pedal board. You will definitely need to download the full manual to learn all of the capabilities and nuances of the device. I saw some other reviewers said it didn’t have MIDI functions, but it does, according to the manual. The effects and signal chain are easy enough to adjust using the various knobs and buttons, but I do wish it had a touchscreen instead. Using the knobs has a bit of a learning curve, but is mostly intuitive, and only takes a little while to get used to. The expression pedal works well, and can be linked to several effects. There are not a ton of effects, but there are certainly enough to get most of the sounds you’d want. You can choose two “anything” effects (that are NOT represented by the remaining fixed effects, like EQ or modulation, etc. – so this covers things like Wah, distortion, etc.), and then there is a fixed amp, cab, EQ, noise gate, expression pedal, modulation, delay, and reverb. This setup can be a bit limiting on its own. . . but you have the external FX loop to bring in anything else you want, so it’s not a huge limitation if you use this processor in concert with external pedals. I played quite a bit with the drum machine, and it sounds pretty good, and has a lot of good patterns. I tend to use an external looper, so didn’t test the looper much. However, having an external FX loop lets you put your external looper in the external FX loop, so you can really get some different soundscapes while looping in this configuration. The external FX loop is really the biggest benefit to this device vs. competitors in the same price range. A few drawbacks: There is no power switch, which isn’t all that uncommon on regular pedals, but this device probably should have one. This may be used often in a stand-alone configuration, and not on a pedal board, and should really have its own power switch. Also mentioned previously, I wish it had a touch screen. The power supply is spec’d at 9V 1000mA (1 Amp), which would seem to put it out of the range of using a pedal board power supply. However, I measured the current draw in a pedal-board type configuration (e.g. not connected to a PC, etc.), and it only draws about 257 mA. The current draw varied by about only 1mA with different effects, volumes, etc. and never went above 257.5mA on my unit. This puts it well within range of using a 300mA pedalboard power supply. I wish the manufacturer would spec this more appropriately, since not everyone can measure actual current draw, and most shoppers have to make decisions based upon the spec’d current draw, which seems spec'd way too high. My last, fairly minor complaint, is that most of the effects sound “good” but not great. The amp/cab models are pretty good, and it has a few less common effects (like reverse echo), but overall, the total sounds coming out of this just sounds “good” to me, and not fabulously awesome. Now, tone is in the ear of the beholder, and the rest of your equipment makes a BIG impact here (guitar, amp, cables, etc), so you’re mileage may vary. Don’t get me wrong, it sounds pretty good. But I have some other multi-effects units that just sound a bit better to me. Obviously this also depends a lot on what type of tone you’re trying to get as well, and it may be that I’m just more “used to” the sounds of my other equipment for the effects I tend to use. Most of the factory presets are there just to show of some different combinations of effects, and all of them tend to be way to heavy on delay and reverb, but you can adjust this easily enough. Overall, I’m giving this a very solid 4 stars, almost 5, but not quite, just because of the few minor issues mentioned above. Don’t get me wrong. . . if this multi-effects is in your price range, you can’t go wrong with it, and it has a lot of great features.

I think this pedal is the best option on the market for beginners. Great sound in general. I just would like to have more effects, ways to modify their parameters and a better quality when is used as an interface. But I'm now actually using it to play live and have no complaints with it perfomance.

I have purchased sonicake stuff before. They're usually better than other chinese brands. So I gave the Matribox II a whirl and ran thru the presets like everyone does before they get into menus and tweaking. There was not 1 useable patch except the Plexi. When it's your first meeting with a product you may keep for life, won't you like to see demos of 3 things? A good clean tone, a good rhythm patch and a lead patch. They have not given you that. Almost all useless patches. If cakewalk is proud of that, they've missed the 1 thing all guitarists want to demo, USEABLE PATCHES I think these guys can do better but this one isn't it.

Not exactly but, for the money, this is the most useful and FUN pedal I've ever used. If you're thinking about buying any single pedal and getting overwhelmed, buy this and have fun. The amp settings are fun to explore as are all the cab options. Many of the amps I've never played through but the ones I have, sound legit. With all the pedals you can play with, it's amazing and lots of fun. For the price of one big name pedal you can have hundreds of pedals and amp combinations. Well worth the money!
