**Q: Is the head piece connected to the ear pieces with plastic or metal?**
A: Hi
I returned the item because it bothered my ears after a few hours AND it didn’t cancel as much airplane engine noise as I would like. 
To answer your question: 
The top-red piece is plastic. 
There are metal slides that come out of that plastic that are attached to the ear pieces.

So I first got a set of headphones from Audsom when I was about 12 years old. And those things lasted for years. The only reason why I had to stop using them and get a new set was because the leather was falling off and the volume button broke. So I got a new set and I was absolutely fantastically happy with them, until I lost one of the ear covers. And I cannot find a replacement. So it’s looking like I’m gonna have to buy a new set of headphones because they don’t replace these. I think that is bogus but overall I love these headphones. I’m just extremely annoyed because I want to use them and I can’t use them right now.
