Great build quality
Device is super solid, materials and everything feel super premium, probably my favorite of any ereader! It is pretty heavy and I did find it a bit awkward to use the buttons while reading due to the location at the bottom of device. They are super well implemented buttons however! Not easy to accidentally push them. The screen is good, not as evenly lit as the paperwhite, but not terrible. Only a slight shadow at the bottom of screen. The case is also lovely, feels super silky on the inside of it, nice texture on the outside. This does mean that you might loose grip on it though. The software is both a plus and a con. You have so many choices. Everything can be customized, including getting rid of book recommendations! If you use calibre it reads series info automatically, no fiddling needed. Formatting of books is a bit difficult to get right and does take some tinkering. I was able to add my own fonts that helped a lot. TLDR great build it all comes down to if you want to mess around in settings a ton.

Good ereader, though the competition is better
The Verse Pro is a good device, but still behind the competition when considering the cost of the device. Most people would be better suited with a Kobo or Kindle, but it does fill a niche of being the best 6" device on the market that comes with page turn buttons. Tip for anybody new to ereaders: Remember to turn off Wifi when you're not using it! This dramatically improves battery life. The good: + From a cold boot (powered off), the ereader turns on really quickly (under 10 seconds). In contrast, on Kindle/Kobo, booting is painfully slow. + The device feels great in the hand, significantly nicer than a Kindle Basic or Kobo Clara. + I'm not a huge fan of the stock reading software, but sideloading alternative reading apps is a breeze (shoutout to KOReader, which runs well!). + Page turn buttons! (basically extinct on 6" models not made by Pocketbook) + Grooves on the page turn button which make them easy to find without looking at the ereader. + Beautiful 300 PPI display. + Much more customizable in terms of settings, in general, than Kobo and especially versus Kindle. + Native EPUB support and support for DRM'd books. + Sideloading books is a breeze. + Comes with a few public domain titles preloaded in several languages. + Pocketbook Sync is a great feature. The bad: - The biggest issue with the Verse Pro, by far, is the frontlight. It's much less uniform/even than on other ereaders I've used. In the default orientation, the top of the screen is significantly brighter than the bottom (using a landscape orientation is even more disruptive as you'll notice the different light intensity across the screen more often). If you do a lot of reading with the frontlight, consider another device unless the page turn buttons are must-have. You can still read with it OK, but you'll have a better time using a reading lamp. - The stock reading software lacks options compared to the competition (font weight adjustment, the ability to align text to the left, etc). - Highlighting on the stock reading software is horrible. - The Pocketbook Store is a suboptimal experience in the US, where I'm located. - Slower than the competition due to the older Carta HD screen/processor (all currently sold Kobo/Kindle models, as of this writing, use faster, more modern screens). - The page turn buttons require more force to press than I'd expect and are pretty audible. - The page turn buttons are somewhat awkwardly located if using the device in portrait mode; they're more suited for use in landscape mode. If you want to use them in portrait, you need to train yourself to hold the ereader from the bottom rather than the sides. - The power and home buttons don't have grooves on them like the page turn buttons and are tougher to find/depress. - Sometimes there's a high-pitched noise when turning pages (similar to coil whine if you know what that is). Not a big deal for me and I usually don't notice it. - The bezel and screen aren't an exact match. Parts of the screen at the extreme edges are covered by the bezel unless you tilt the ereader in certain ways. - There's no option to use book covers when locking the screen (aka standby mode) without a little technical know-how and manually editing some files on the ereader, which is unfortunate (you can use covers as the "off" screen for the device though). - The device seems to drain battery in standby faster than other ereaders I've used. You can work around this by powering it off (again, it boots really really quickly from a powered off state). - No overdrive/Libby integration, though you can read books from it via Adobe Digital Editions.

Solid eReader that lets you read your books in peace.
As it comes out of the box it's a good ebook reader and you may never need more. If you add KOreader it's a fantastic ebook reader. Pretend I took off half a star off because it really needs more granular power setting options but other than that I'm very satisfied.

Has some issues
Not the fastest on the market. It also has a very annoying popup asking you to connect to the internet when using it in airplane mode that cannot be turned off and comes up continuously. It works fine for reading books but I'm not particularly fond of the layout as it lacks simplicity.

Compact and Versatile
I recently had cause to replace my Kindle, and this does the job and then some. From the form factor, to the lack of ads, to the ease of getting my books on and off the device, it's no comparison.

case opened on a fall
I bought this a few weeks ago to replace my Pocketbook Touch HD 3. Overall, this provides about the same quality and utility. Its basically just the HD3 in a different case But the build-quality has fallen off considerably. The new design broke on its first fall. The case opened up and--I guess--part of the ribbon to the screen disconnected. Anyway, the left quarter inch or so no longer updates. I'm going back to the HD3. If I need to replace it, I'll look for another HD 3.

probably the best 6" e-reader out there
Whether Pocketbook could integrate the latest technologies among the first, or it was always only their advantage, the way Verse Pro handles the various book formats, especially the most stubborn of them - pdf, is just amazing! Text-to-speech is unbelievably clear and accurate, thanks to so many voices available to download freely and it works across all formats. And physical buttons to turn the pages are very handy, you would never accidentally click on them. After trying Kindle Vogue and Kobo Aura One, Verse Pro eliminated for me all the disadvantages to read e-books vs paper...now it may be misses only the smell:)

Supports many formats well and easily
Excellent replacement for a reader I bought a long time ago, how long ago, well standard SD cards were still popular. It supports almost every format I've thrown at it from my various sources including Project Gutenburg, comics and of course PDFs. It's easy to read from in light or dark and the only issue I had, for whatever reason, the included cable didn't permit data transfer from the computer but one I happened to have did easily. In terms of price, I'd like to see all eBook readers and tablets come down in price but only market and time will facilitate that. For what I received compared to what I owned, it's a worthy upgrade.
