Our adult koi had babies (fry) the summer of 2023. We began feeding the fry this same food by Hikari but in micro size due to it being a sinking food. Once they became 3 months old we began purchasing this food. They appear to really like it and it actually sinks to the bottom of the pond. I will continue to purchase until the babies go to their new home or if we get more fry this summer.

I do see alot of people complaining about the quality and how they claim the product isnt hikari; and while I do agree with them based on the clear bag they recieved I have to say the product I recieved was AMAZING! All my fishes love this food from plecos to barbs to bichrs they just love it. And for $20 you get soo much, it usually last me about 3 months and I feed it twice a day a good amount to a 125G tank... you really cant beat it... the only thing I would recomend is keep an eye out for the clear bag. I honesly dont think the clear bag some people have recieved is an authentic product based on the quality of the pellet. But if you do get the blue bag that I got, its the best food out there!

My fish love it. I don't know if it made my fish more reddish. Sometimes they are sometimes they are lighter. Overall I'm not sure cause these kinds of fish pick on each other real aggressively over time. Sometimes so aggressive they bite each other's scales out so now I separate them with acrylic sheets/risers. My pleco sometimes eats these if it really wants it even though I do feed it cucumbers and algae wafers. The only thing I kind of didn't like about this is food coloring. The food color easily turns purigen to red not brown or pink but red like clay red. Probably because how purigen really absorbs stuff out of the water. Your media filters won't turn red though. I have white and blue fine media filters and they don't turn red.

I have a 75gal Cichlid/Tropical mix tank and they all have been thriving off this food for years now. About 15 long living fish. Rock Severum, Parrot Cichlid, Frontosa, Bala Sharks, Iridescent Sharks, Blue Rainbows...all love this stuff. My Bala Sharks are 8 years old now and the Rainbows are 4 with everything else in between, so everyone has big enough mouths for this size pellet. If you have smaller fish this probably isn't what you are looking for, but Hikari probably makes it in the size you need. I used to use the 1mm sinking pellet but everyone got too big and needed more! With this food and proper tank maintenance I have lost only one fish in the last 5 years. My entire tank is happy and healthy and all rush to the top when I come for feeding!
