I really enjoyed using the Thermacell insect repeller in my yard this spring. I find the device to be very effective, and each pad usually lasts long enough for most evenings we spend outside. It doesn't provide a huge coverage but is just right for a large dinner table. I also like that it has minimal smell and doesn't require spraying anything or having more heat. My only downside is that it is somewhat annoying to have to purchase refills, but it is still pretty cost-effective and worth the price. Overall, I would highly recommend this for insect control.

This thing actually works great. We started using it during outdoor markets and it made a noticeable difference with mosquitoes. Normally I get bitten constantly when we’re outside for long periods of time, but with this running nearby it helped a lot. It’s also really easy to set up and convenient to bring along. We’ve used it at markets, sitting outside at home, and other outdoor events and have been really happy with it. It’s become one of those things we always make sure to bring with us now.

As a dude from Florida I can walk on my back porch and find 50+ mosquitos just looking at my outdoor table from the door. This does work well, but it is extremely expensive, you have to let the product sit for a while before you notice a difference and at the price of gas and mosquito pads that only last 12hrs for the gas and 4hrs per pad I could see this getting expensive. If you can afford it; it definitely works better than mosquito candles, but paired with mosquito candles it’s a beast, especially after sometime to pollute the air. WIND PLAYS A HUGE ROLE. Lately it’s been humid and extremely still in Florida so this product is working well, if it gets windy it wouldn’t be as affective because the scent and smoke would be pushed away from your radius.

my dog chewed on this the day after I got it. It was not on and he just broke somee of the plastic tabs and it still functions! It lights really easily, about two clicks and keeps the area but free. This is the 3rd thermacell I have bought and have really liked each one. I love that you can tuck extra refills up underneath so its super portable.

It seems like nothing really stops mosquitoes, but this works surprisingly well! The radius is correct, there is not a strong scent, these are easy to pack and refills are available. One downfall is the refill kits are more expensive than I anticipated. This comes with everything you need in the box .

I have several of these units and can't say enough about how well they keep mosquitoes and gnats away. I do use 2 units for my 20 x 12 foot deck. Manufacturers always tend to over exaggerate the effective range on products like this. I use the half rule. If it says 15ft range I assume its going to be 7 maybe 9 feet which is why I use two units at the same time. If the bugs are really bad I sometimes add a 3rd unit but they do keep the bugs away. It's important to realize that you should turn these on and place them outside at least 15 minutes before you enter the area. This is actually what the Manufacturer suggests anyway. They do take time to heat up and for the vapor to start coming out of the units and to spread around the sitting area. As for the blue pads, I hear some complaints they turn white in less than 4 hours. Turning white doesnt mean its not working. The oil is still being emitted even when it turns completely white. In fact just having them in the sun and humidity will make them turn white but it still takes about 4 hours to exhaust the pad. One other thing to note is once you open the package the clock starts ticking. If you used it on day one for 2 hours and then don't use it for a couple days they will have dried out and no longer work and a new pad needs to be inserted. With that said its not the greatest if you just plan to sit out for an hour but they are still the best solution I have found. I ordered the rechargeable unit that uses a liquid cartridge instead of the pads to see if these are better for shorter usage times. I'll update this review once I try it. Update on Rechargeable version with the liquid cartridges... This is the way to go! Theybwork just as good as the butane models with the pads. They actually heat up faster too. When I'm done with them I turn them off and they are good to go even days later since the liquid doesn't evaporate from the wick. No pads pads or butane cartritges to deal with. When repellent cartridge is empty just drop a new one in. Couldnt be simpler. Note! The cartridge that comes with the unit is only partially filled, just like when you buy a new printer. The replacements are completely filled.

I read many reviews and most loved this, however, unless you put on a floor (lowest level) it's not that affective. Turn on at least 15 minutes before use. The blue pad you insert is definitely completely used "within one hour" therefore this product can get quite expensive if you need to refill more often than expected. In addition it does not handle a 15' Zone, actually much smaller of an area. My husband and I were sitting at a table on our lanai across from each other and the distance is only less than 5' so we kept having to move it and finally we had to sit side by side to have some favorable results. I will try it again to see IF it works better the next time. It does help somewhat although not nearly as much as many have claimed. Hopefully next time it's better...

So far I'm very pleased with the Thermacell Fuel Base. I like that it acts as a barrier vs attracting insects like traditional but zappers. It's more convenient, begins to work much faster, and very portable! The product is about the size of a can of soda and uses pads and a fuel pod to work. I've only had limited time to try it but plan to test it further in different locations and situations. So far at home on my back patio it's worked very well next to my fire pit, grill, and hot tub. (Before I would be eaten alive!)
