The best thing I've ever bought for myself! I've had this portable console/computer for just over a week and wow! i'm blown away by how awesome this thing is. The touchscreen is responsive and the image quality is great. The speakers are crazy good too. The memory capacity is expandable with a separately purchased ssd and seems beginner friendly to do, however I've yet to run into any problems and I've downloaded around 10/20 medium to heavy apps and games. I love that I can use it as a mini computer and I'd highly recommend buying a portable keyboard and trackpad set if you'd want to use it more like a laptop. I will also be investing in a dock so I can play games on the big screen. It takes a little while to work out how to use it and download all the updates, but once you get over that initial hurdle, this thing is a beast!!!! One small note - the battery life is only an hour long off charge, but I primarily play plugged in on the 2m charging cable provided. Overall, I'm really happy and my inner child is having so much fun :) Thank you Asus! I got this from Amazon Warehouse and paid £375 - absolute bargain.

I already own 2 Steam Decks and this was available for £399, so I grabbed one. I'd had my eye on it before but couldn't quite pull the trigger but at that price point, I felt it was rude not to. The first downside is you have to get a case for it, unlike the Steam Deck which already comes with one. It's not a major issue but I do feel that it should come with one given it's major competitor does and sometimes the little things matter. Anyway, if feels nice in the hand and obviously has RGB in certain places which is popular with some, but at least you can turn it off should you need to. It will update Windows (it runs under Win 11 if you didn't know but you probably do) pretty much when you get it, so wise to just get that out the way. I also upgraded the SSD to 2TB which for this model is the biggest currently (the newer one has a standard 2280 NVME so you could go to 8TB if you have the cash) and being honest, 512gb is nothing these days so you're going to want to upgrade. I also popped in a 512gb Micro SSD for games that speed of loading isn't such a factor. On the note of upgrading the SSD, both the actual physical install and the install afterwards of the OS is much easier than the Steam Deck - but if you're going to do an upgrade, I'd do it on arrival rather than later personally (you can clone it if needed but it's just easier/quicker to just do an over the air re-install IMO). Performance wise, it's perfectly fine. I'm not playing anything mega complex - Kingdom Hearts, FF VII and FMV games are my thing. The Armory Crate software has most of the normal launchers but Epic is one you'll have to install more manually at first (it will integrate into Armory Crate once installed though). It's also not the best front end, it's not the worst either and ultimately does the job. As the Steam Deck does, you can also install games across your LAN once connected which is useful (obviously you have to have your PC on to do so) and that just makes it quicker to do so than re-downloading it as such. Screen quality is very good, I have nothing negative to say there, even smallish text was fine. Battery life is ok - it's had a few BIOS updates since launch and I think those are more ironed out (there's also performance tweaking you can do here, as you can on Steam Deck). Sound from the speakers is very good, I feel a touch louder and cleaner than the Steam Deck but everything is subjective. You also have the ability, like the Steam Deck to play on a monitor but that's not for me - feels like it defeats the purpose of a portable system. Charging time is reasonable (it comes with the typical ASUS puck charger). I use a screen protector on all my devices so can't comment if the screen is resistant or not - I just protect that as standard. For the cash (which was discounted) I'm very happy I can play Steam, Epic, EA or whatever games without any fuss. Even games that have anti-cheat like Destiny 2 could run on this (I haven't done that, I do prefer to play that on my PC) which is one thing that the Steam Deck can't, or titles like Fifa (apparently - football is NOT my thing whatsoever). I like my Steam Deck, don't get me wrong, but having this just gives me a bit more flexibility overall. It's a really nice piece of kit and I'm glad I picked one up while I could.

This thing is amazing, have been glued to it since I have got it. For those who want to play games while relaxing away from a desk, look no further. I have been able to play Cyberpunk 2077, Overwatch, Fortnite, Detroit: Become Human, FC 25, amongst many other games, and have had no issues with the performance. Additionally, the Ally also acts as a PC which is very nice for when you are burnt out of gaming, you can switch to watching something on Youtube, Netflix, or Crunchyroll. I have yet to try using it for work purposes, however I am sure that with a wireless mouse and keyboard, I will be able to do what I need from Excel, Word, etc. I will say that optimization is definitely required, with the fan speeds, CPU, RAM, and also the control modes so that it becomes easier to navigate with. Furthermore, there is a fair bit of noise that is expelled by the fans when in Turbo Mode, so bare that in mind when playing more demanding games, but for general browsing and indie games, Performance mode and even Quiet mode will suffice. The battery life is heavily dependent on the load you are putting on it, for playing those AAA titles on Turbo mode, do not expect more than two hours max. Overall, I would have to give it 5 stars. The enjoyment I have been able to get from this thing trumps all the drawbacks for me. I was able to get it for £400, and at that price point, I would say is far superior to its alternatives like the Steam Deck and Legion Go. Would I say it is value for money? For my use cases, yes. For those who maybe only want to play lighter games for a couple hours, you may be able to get away with an inferior device at a cheaper price.

This is a good little gaming handheld pc. I love the feel of it in my hands very comfortable the size of the machine is more than sufficient . Need to tweak settings on every game you play. Screen quality is good. The sound quality isn’t terrible. Value for money in my opinion for products like these I’m always a bit skeptical. Battery life on this product is very poor.

I bought this as my old lenovo lappy is struggling with games these days. I gotta say, I am amazed. A hand held pc, that I can use at home as my gaming PC and in my wagon when I'm out on the the road (parked up, obviously). I can play starfield, cyberpunk, doom eternal etc sat in my wagon parked in a layby... brilliant.. It's a full window's 11 pc, I can do absolutely everything I did on my old pc when it's plugged in the doc I bought, a Jaux thingy which is wired into my Internet and my spare screen. Mouse and keyboard and bobs your aunty a fully functioning pc. Minor issues. I got big hands and after an hr using it hand held my hands ache. When gaming at home I use an Xbox controller or mouse and keyboard. SSD is only 512 which can be a little tight with do to size of games like starfield. However you can swap out the internal drive for a 1 or 2tb drive if your brave. Or do what ive done, the Jaux dock that I bought allows you to fit an SSD to the dock literally a plug in job and it runs fine. And the big one Battery life ain't great. You are looking at about an hr maybe 1.5 hrs if you work on game settings etc. Lots of advice on youtube I love this handheld, it's fantastic. Great for gaming, and at £550 probably ine of the cheapest ways to get a gaming pc.

Wow !!!! To say I'm seriously impressed with this bit of kit is an understatement. After months of reading reviews and comparing the ROG Ally with the Steam Deck, the lure of the improved performance and convenience of Windows/GamePass just made it no competition. The convenience of having a mobile Windows install for OneDrive/OneNote etc and all the other apps I already own was also a pretty big deciding factor. I'm not adverse to linux, and use it daily, but just have so much invested in windows software that it was something else the Ally had over the steam deck. I was worried about control mapping but I needn't have bothered - a combination of the installed Armoury Crate software and things like Console Port make it a breeze. I've got World of Warcraft on the go so couldn't be happier. Everything I've thrown at it so far has been a breeze - even Minecraft Java edition (renowned for being a complete resource hog on even good PCs) is perfectly playable using the Curse Forge Bedrock-ify mods, and Minecraft Windows edition plays on 60fps with no mods what so ever. I could probably crank the quality and frame rate up even more but to save battery you can tune everything in far more detail than you seem to be able on the steam deck, and then have the extra oomph when on mains power or powerbank. Performance wise it's very tunable - and a built in monitoring overlay so you can gauge how things are running and tweak them accordingly. Some serious thought has gone into the device and it shows - everything feels solid, robust and intuitive. Immediately upgrading to a 2Tb SSD was the best decision I made and it was unbelievably easy. I'm assuming ASUS had thought about this as it's so easy to slot a new SSD in and then reboot in recovery mode to get a nice clean new install. Easier to do when new as you don't have to clone the SSD.

It's good, I use it as an all in one device as a PC and gaming. Imagine it as basically a gaming laptop but in a different form factor. It's audio, and responsive screen is really nice. It has 512gb internal storage but expandable, so it really isn't bad. I probably wouldn't expect it to play games at high settings for every game, but I am a light gamer anyways so for me it is more than enough power. Basically, just imagine a gaming laptop if it was smaller and in a different form factor, but cheaper for the price. The only thing I don't like is the battery but most laptops don't have great battery anyways, so I guess it's better than others.

Final edit, not even a full 3 weeks and it's getting sent back. Tonight I was playing Doom Eternal, no issues, playing GTA V, no issues. Fired up the Xbox App to stream my Xbox and just as I go to play it black screened and booted into the bios. Couldn't get it to boot back into windows, boot options said there was no bootable device even though I could see the ssd on the screen. Cpu temp looked high to me as well, which is weird as the machine has always been well ventilated. Had my Steam Deck 2 1/2 years with no issues had this just shy of 3 weeks and it's going back faulty. well done Asus, won't buy another. Edited after 2 weeks to reduce the stars. This thing does NOT work well with Steam either in desktop mode or big picture. Really let down with its software. I don't dislike the ROG Ally and I'm not good with Linux but I've had my Steam Deck since it launched way back and the software experience is way better on the Steam Deck. Now that that's out of the way I will say after tweaking the software on the Ally it is a much better machine the 1080p screen and 120hz refresh rate do make for a better visual experience. Definitely need to upgrade the storage on it though 512gb on a windows system is NOTHING 2 modern games installed and no more space on it [gotta leave X amount on ssd free] Doesn't look to hard to upgrade either, slightly easier than my Steam Deck was. I'd only give the Steam Deck 4 stars so don't think I'm far to biased, the Ally has some features that I wanted that's why I bought in. It's worth getting but research tweaking it before playing the games, it's really let down by Windows 11 and Microsoft. Also kudos to Asus on an armory crate that's worth having installed, my Tuff Gaming A15 had it and I found it to be useless on it. took it off.

Calidad muy buena, autonomía muy corta. Yo juego ratos cortos y tiro con una powerbank de 45wh. Pero Windows no está preparado para este uso. Rendimiento muy muy bueno. Yo le he Aumentado a 2TB aunque la uso mucho para emular consolas y con los 512gb originales Dan para apenas 2 juegos AAA. Windows ocupa mucho y viene con apps que la gente no usará en esta máquina.
