But safety is paramount as you would be using this with an electric drill or a electric battery powered drill. The Ignition from the electric motor is a high potential for explosion. I would not recommend this pump for transferring fuel or explosive liquids. **Q: Does this need to be mounted or can it be hand held while using?** A: It can be hand held. Mine leaked where the driven shaft went into the pump, and had a hard time pulling up the RV antifreeze I was using that was 2 feet away from me.
