Heavy-Duty Thermoplastic Construction. This pump is ideal for water removal from crawl spaces, window wells, standing water, basements, and numerous other water transfer applications. This powerful, yet compact auto utility pump moves up to 1800 gallons of water per hour and has a maximum lift of 25-vertical feet. The pump is automatically activated when water levels reach approximately 1-1/2-inch. above the base of the pump and will turn off when water levels drop below approximately 1/8-inch. We place it in a well bucket and hook up a garden hose and this goes right to work. It is fast, convenient, dependable and is able to pump water at least six feet high to get it out of our basement. This will turn on when the water reaches a certain level and shut off automatically. We were so pleased with this product that we purchased a second one for a backup. We would highly recommend this product. Review: Complete waste of money - Short-version: this pump is missing a key component (check valve), and failed after one rainstorm. I bought this to put in a drain at the base of the driveway so we’d stop getting water coming in under the garage door. First problem: it doesn’t come with a check valve, so when I first tested it I discovered water would flow back down through the pump when it shut off, thereby raising the water level and causing the pump to turn back on. I bought a check valve and installed it on the pump (which also increases the pump height so it no longer fits inside the drain, creating additional work for me to solve that problem by sawing a hole in the drain cover. Second: the pump worked well for our first small rainstorm. Now halfway through the first susbstantial rainstorm of the season, the pump is not working and the garage is flooding once again. There doesn’t appear to be any clogs, but there’s also no clear way to disassemble the pump, so I am limited in my ability to troubleshoot. I am now left with a broken pump, a destroyed drain cover, hours and money wasted, and water in my garage.
