The compressed thickness, after applying them to my project and pressing down with maybe 50 lbs., was about 1/16 inch. **Q: How does this work? Is there sticky adhesive on both sides?** A: No, there is sticky adhesive on one side. That is the side to attach to the item you don't want to slide. The rest of the of the the block is non-skid. This can be easily cut to whatever size you keed. **Q: can these be glued since they do NOT stay on??** A: I don't know what glue you'd use, but I've had good results with double sided tape. I just needed something to help 'stick' a table/laptop to a slanted podium stand. One strip on the front bottom and it pretty much 'sticks' to the wood. The tablet/laptop no longer slides down.
