Perfect for Smaller Heirloom and Native Cherries
Now I have some friends who told me not to even bother with a pitter. They claimed to have tried them all for their tart cherries, to no avail -- "none work!"...So they said. I'm pleased to report they were wrong. I chose this pitter specifically because I read in one of the reviews that it worked on smaller cherries. I have a native tart cherry that produces smaller fruit, so I was encouraged to give this one a try. This pitter does, indeed, work on cherries. I can see why some reviews say it doesn't work well: they are obviously trying to use it on full-sized monsters from the grocery store. That is not what this pitter excels at. This pitter was made for REAL cherries. The kind that grew wild all over the Eastern/Midwestern US (and still do, in some areas). And if you're lucky, the kind that may grow in your own backyard. I used this little guy to pit nearly 4 lbs (yes, that's FOUR POUNDS!!) in one go. Probably took me about an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and a half. Were my hands sticky and tired by the end? You betcha! But did they hurt? Nope, not at all. The spring mechanism worked fine, and the pits popped out beautifully with a satisfying "ping!" into the steel bowl with every punch. The cherries kept their lovely round shape, too -- which was important, because I was canning amaretto cherries for Christmas presents this year (Shh! It's a surprise!). For me, the presentation's just as important, and this lil' bebe did not disappoint. The pits popped out clean with hardly any flesh wasted. It's fun to use, pretty darn speedy, a great value for the money, and a great size to plop in my canning drawer (hardly takes up any space at all!). Just one thing: if you're thinking of buying it for supermarket cherries, DON'T. They're too big; it'll split them and you'll be sad.

Must have for Cherry pitting.
Planning on making a few batches of George Washingtonโs favorite drink, Cherry Bounce for Christmas gifts. This tool makes quick work of cherry pits and stems in one powerful motion. Also perfect for my toddlers to enjoy some cherries without the choking hazard. Now that I know how easy this thing makes pitting cherries I may even make a couple pies. Going to try it out on olives for charcuterie. Feels like itโs made of solid quality material, comes with a sleeve to keep it closed for storage. Would recommend. Heads up, it really blasts these pits out and splatters cherry juice so be prepared for that.

If youโre a regular cherry eater you NEED this!
Weโve used this SO many times this past year. Our whole family (including kiddos) eat fresh cherries as long as we can get our hands on them. This tool makes pitting cherries a breeze and is incredibly efficient. It does create a bit of splash so be sure to use a deep bowl or sink when pitting to contain some of the mess. It is made of heavy duty metal that Iโm sure will last for years to come. Definitely worth the money spent!

Almost Perfect
This cherry pitter should be a "5" except for a couple minor issues. I had a plastic pitter that began to peel its coating so I replaced it with this one. It's sturdy metal, easy to handle and comes with a pit "catcher." The only issue is that the catcher is small so it doesn't hold many pits but it still beats having to dispose of each pit individually. Pitting large cherries is a hassle because it doesn't open very wide but for small or medium cherries it's great. Close to perfect.

Very well made product!
This thing is awesome!!!!! I tried pitting the dark red cherries with a straw but it was a disaster! I looked at other cherry hitters, some that did several cherries at a time but they looked kinda wimpy. I saw this one was made in Germany so I knew it would be durable. I was not let down! It didn't take very long until I had all my cherries pitted and ready to make into pie filling. Wonderful product! My grandson took the video.

Buy it for life!
Unreal. Never used a cherry pitter before. Iโm a buy it for life type of guy and I donโt see how this wonโt last. Built super well, high quality, works phenomenally.

Works as expected.
I bought this cherry pitter and Iโm happy with my purchase. Gets the pit straight out almost every time. I cherry pit over my sink because it can splatter, but really it makes the process so much faster. The pitter is solid material and easy to use.

Amazing!
I like cherries, but I don't eat very many because the pits are annoying. I just received this item today and I am delighted! If you put the cherry in, stem down, and hold the stem while you squeeze the handle, the pit and stem will pop out cleanly leaving you with a perfect-looking cherry. For me, this is a game-changer. I fully expect this will work just as well with kalamata olives and others of similar size. In fact, you know the little + on the bottom of pitted olives? The hole in your cherry will be that shape, but almost invisible. Perfect for summer fruit salads. It's quite small so won't take up much space in your utensil drawer. It's made of aluminum and feels sturdy. My hands aren't very strong, but this was easy to use. Highly recommend.

Perfect, reliable, should never need replacing
Brilliant. Bought it for olives as I keep buying the wrong ones by mistake. Now I don't have to worry! I can pit a pizza's worth in seconds :) Seems perfectly dishwasher-proof so far. Comes with a transparent plastic band to keep it shut - I put this on whenever I put it away because space is tight. Haven't yet worked out if it's faster to use it upside-down or right-way-up. Important: this device does not depend on any blades to penetrate the flesh of whatever is being pitted, so is unlikely to blunt. The pitting spike is as if the grooves on a cross-haired screwdriver were extended all down the shaft, and then the tip removed to leave four pointed corners surrounding a concavity. I do not believe I shall ever need to buy a replacement for this item. I shall definitely consider buying these in bulk if I ever go into the stoning business.
