Solid performer from Mackie
I really like this particular model because I don't have to carry around spare batteries. Of course, you are reliant upon your mixer having phantom power, so that is an important limitation to be aware of if you are relying upon other people's boards. But if you are using your own board, this is a cool piece of hardware and has a lot of nice features like the 15db pad, the ability to combine two sources or use the second 1/4" jack as a "through" jack. I also like the ability to switch polarity and the ground lift. In addition, it feels like a solid little box that is well made. I've been using them for about a year now with no issues - just nice quiet signal.

Works great
Excellent unit, has a db pad on both channels as well as a ground lift. Costs less than half as my Radial stereo di box

Crystal clear sound for studio inputs!
Crystal clear sound quality, very low noise for my studio inputs. I was getting noise when recording my Yamaha digital stage piano through my older ART DI box - it has seen a lot of use and its fair share of drops over 10+ years of service. After the cables tested clear, I replaced my DI with this Mackie MDB-2P Stereo Passive Direct Box, and the noise was instantly gone! I only wish I had bought it sooner. This is much heavier and feels much sturdier than the ART DI box. While it is a bit more expensive than the ART unit, this is definitely a significant upgrade, competitive with Whirlwind in its performance at half the price. I appreciate the two separate channels in one compact box; each with a passthrough for a secondary send and an independent 15db pad switch. The machine feels very sturdy, and the switches are easy to use with a firm and responsive tactile click. I'm using it for my lesson and recording studio, and while I'm glad it has the bumpers to protect the faces with switches, I would be very careful about tossing it in a bag for travel where those switches could get banged around. If you're a road warrior and don't like securing your cargo, you'd probably be better off with a more streamlined box. But for the studio or for the careful packer, this is a great value option that sounds, feels, and looks thoroughly professional.

Ground loop eliminated!
I work for a local vintage theater that is being remodeled and one of the issues was a ground loop problem when connecting multiple audio mixers across multiple circuits. This stereo passive box worked great, just be aware that you will lose a little amplification as it drops the signal to line level.

USB Boxes
I own the Radial, Mackie and Peavey USB Boxes. The Peavey box seriously lacks output, so much so it is unacceptable. The Radial has incredible fidelity and output. The Mackie is very close to the Radial in every respect. If you're using it at home to integrate active studio monitors to your computer, it's perfect. If you're needs are professional, get the Radial and spend the extra $100.00.
